About the Role
On behalf of our client, we are recruiting for a senior Grid Connections leadership role responsible for managing and developing the Grid Connections team across project development and delivery.
The role covers the full lifecycle of grid connections for onshore wind, solar PV, and battery storage projects - from early-stage grid concepts and approvals through to construction, commissioning, and certification. This is a technically influential position with significant scope to shape grid connection strategy and delivery across a growing portfolio of complex renewable energy projects in Germany.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the Grid Connections team across development and implementation activities
* Develop cost-effective grid connection solutions for onshore wind, PV, and BESS projects
* Plan and design electrical infrastructure including substations, grid connection stations, transformer stations, and cable networks
* Prepare grid connection concepts, technical specifications, and tender documentation
* Manage grid connection applications, approvals, and ongoing coordination with DSOs and TSOs
* Ensure compliance with applicable grid codes, technical standards, and regulatory requirements
* Perform and review grid studies, calculations, and economic assessments of connection options
* Coordinate and manage substation and operational facility projects
* Oversee commissioning activities and support certification processes
* Interface closely with grid operators, service providers, and internal project teams
* Provide regular reporting to senior management and technical leadership
What We’re Looking For
* Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a comparable qualification
* Fluency in both English and German
* Proven experience leading and managing technical teams
* Strong background in grid connection planning for renewable energy projects
* High-voltage grid connection experience is desirable
* Established professional network with DSOs and TSOs
* Experience with grid modelling and simulation tools (e.g. DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSS®SINCAL, EPLAN) is advantageous
* Strong knowledge of relevant standards and regulations (e.g. VDE-AR-N 4110, VDE-AR-N 4120)
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly
* Structured, independent, and delivery-focused working style
* Strong interest in renewable energy and the energy transition
