The successful Accounting Team Lead candidate is a strong analytical thinker, they are strategic and have a passion for financial accuracy and process optimization. The Accounting Team Lead will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity of financial records, identifying discrepancies, and resolving issues to ensure the accuracy of financial reporting. Collaborating with various departments, the Accounting Team Lead will streamline processes and improve procedures. Some of what you’ll do: Manage the preparation and analysis of timely monthly/quarterly financial reports ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. Ensure proper accounting for the Company’s German operations, such as accrual calculations, journal entries, and reconciliations within the timelines directed by the Group accounting team. Manage the payment run creation and bank reconciliations for local bank accounts. Work with the Group accounting team to reconcile all inter-company transactions. Prepare internal monthly and ad-hoc reports for management and shareholders, ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and completeness. Prepare and review the financial statements for all the Company’s German subsidiaries. Perform technical accounting analysis of complex issues such as revenue contracts, leases, etc. Identify and investigate discrepancies or variances in financial data, transactions, and balances. Conduct detailed analysis to determine the root cause of discrepancies and propose solutions. Work closely with internal teams including finance and operations to resolve reconciliation issues, ensure accurate data flow, and implement corrective actions to prevent future discrepancies. Prepare detailed reconciliation reports, highlighting variances and outstanding items. Maintain accurate documentation of reconciliation processes and procedures. Responsible for adherence to the Company’s Group accounting processes and policies and implementing internal controls that are aligned with global requirements. Collaboratively work with the Group accounting team to develop accounting policies based on the activities of the German operations. Responsible for management of local audit requirements and in-country tax and government compliance. Oversee work done by local service providers related to accounting and tax services. Develop and maintain strong relationships with the entire in-country accounting team, Group accounting team, finance, and business units. Participate in the implementation of software applications/processes for both the business and accounting functions, including the implementation of maintaining both German GAAP and IFRS reporting in the accounting system. Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices. Some of what you’ll need: 10 years of proven experience in a financial reporting role including people leader/management experience and at least 3 years of professional experience in the field of auditing (with one of the Big 4). Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, including German GAAP and IFRS. Proven experience in financial reconciliation or related accounting roles. Strong leadership with associate performance management experience. Proven efficiency in using software, financial systems and Excel. Proven ability to work with a high level of initiative and self-motivation in a fast-paced work environment with definitive timelines. Detail oriented with a strong analytic mindset and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication (German and English) and interpersonal skills, combined with the ability to work cordially in a team environment.
