The South Westphalia University of Applied Sciences is seeking to fill the following position at its Hagen campus in Department 6 “IT Services” (Central IT Services) on a short-term basis: IT Application and System Administration (m/f/d) Responsibilities Setup, operation, and further development of predominantly Linux-based systems (application servers, database servers, etc.) Development of concepts, transition to operational use, and continuous further development; responsible implementation of projects Operation and support of applications and services (installation, configuration, monitoring, patch management, backup, conducting training sessions) Support and point of contact for subject matter administrators, as well as handling forwarded technical inquiries Requirements Completed university degree (Bachelor’s or University of Applied Sciences diploma) in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or similar; alternatively, completed relevant vocational training with proof of several years of professional experience in the aforementioned fields In-depth knowledge of the administration of current Linux server operating systems as well as good Windows skills Knowledge of scripting, e.g., with bash, Python, Perl, PHP Knowledge of common web and application servers (e.g., Apache / NGINX, Tomcat / WildFly) Knowledge of database systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MS SQL) Very good German language skills (at least C1 level, spoken and written) and good English language skills (B2 level) Open-mindedness, ability to work independently, and initiative Service-oriented mindset and enjoyment of teamwork Knowledge of the Moodle e-learning platform (administration, roles/permissions, plugin configuration), the VIMP media server, current directory and authentication services, and the Icinga monitoring tool is a plus. Contract Terms The part-time position (up to 24 hours per week) is based on the Collective Bargaining Agreement for the Public Service of the German States (TV-L) and is to be filled on a fixed-term basis until October 31, 2027. Salary classification will be in pay grade 10 or 11 of the TV-L, depending on personal qualifications. Working hours and location can be arranged flexibly within the framework of an existing model.
