The EMBL Food Services (Canteen and Cafeteria) currently accommodates up to 800 meals daily, taking into account the international background of the customers coming from approx. 90 nations. Lunch and snacks can be purchased with the means of a rechargeable lunch-card. The Canteen menu is international and consists of vegetarian, meat and fish dishes as well as several side dishes, most of which are fresh and some of which are prepared using "front cooking". Catering is also provided for courses and conferences run at EMBL's Advanced Training Centre as well as internal meetings and social events.The weekly working time of 39 hours is usually spread over a 5-day week from 06:00 to 14:30 (Tuesdays and Thursdays 06:30 - 14:30). In the case of conferences and seminars, overtime may be worked in the evenings or at weekends.These hours may vary and be adjusted by EMBL according to need and area of assignment. This position may also include shifts in other departments such as Kindergarten Kitchen, ISG Hotel and Cafeteria.
