Hauptaufgaben
Serves as Supervisor over the Fire Control and Electronic Repair Shop, this shop contains following sections: Armament, Small Arms, Communication and Electronic Repair exercising supervisory responsibility over work operations involving up to twenty subordinate workers. The occupation and non-supervisory grade level that best reflect the nature of the overall work operation supervised are Instrument Mechanics, A4-3359-06; Electronic Mechanics, A4-2604-04; Small Arms Repairers, A4-6610-06 and Electronic Technicians, C5-0856-5a. Supervises assigned Inspectors with the exception on quality issues. Is responsible for shop safety and the Environment program of the section. During the absence of the section's General Supervisor (Supervisory Electronics Technician), assumes the leading function and acts as the main Contact person for Management.
Planning.
Plans weekly and monthly work schedules and sequence of operations for sub-ordinates. Establishes deadlines and priorities on the basis of general work schedules and methods and policies established by higher levels of supervision. Determines how many assignments can be done concurrently, which ones must be delayed, and the number and types of employees needed, considering skills, personnel, materials, and equipment available and required.
Work direction.
Selects workers and assigns tasks to be performed. Explains work requirements, methods and procedures; instructs subordinates in new procedures; and provides when problem arise. Reviews work in progress or on completion. Adjusts plans, assignments and methods as necessary to accomplish the work as effectively and economically as feasible. Determines equipment, supplies, and maintenance requirement. Assures that material is ordered and delivered to work sites so as not to delay work. Coordinates work of unit with other units that may be involved.
Administration.
Develops performance standards, counsel's employees on performance, and makes formal and informal performance appraisals. Reviews job descriptions for currency and accuracy and makes necessary changes; reports detailing of jobs other than their own. Interviews candidates for vacancies and recommends selections. Counsel's employees on problems and adjusts informal complaints through discussion with employees and union representatives. Initiates proposals for formal disciplinary action as needed. Identifies employees; training needs, and initiates recommendations to provide necessary training. Schedules and approves leave of subordinates. Promotes the participation of employees in such programs as the suggestion programs as the suggestion program cost reduction. Maintains production and man-hour utilization reports and records. Within assigned area assures that equal opportunity programs are implemented and operational to accomplish equal employment opportunity goals in accordance with DA and local policies. Acts as section hand receipt holder for assigned shop equipment and requests/authorizes local purchases (GPC/Contracts).
Supports the Mechanic Engineering and Automotive Apprentice Program for the organization. Observes talents, interests and initiatives of apprentices during probationary period. Establish training plans in his area and ensure training is conducted in accordance with the plans. Explores and arranges for additional theoretical/practical training relative to the mechanical profession. Assures apprentices are receiving up-to-date training and examination support. Takes various actions to place apprentices upon completion of the apprentices-ship.

A completed apprenticeship and a Master degree (Meisterbrief).
Internal applicants can substitute the Master degree with a completed apprenticeship and at least 5 years of experience at the journeyman level at the A-6 or A-7 in the appropriate trade.
Applicants must be in possession of a German driver's license class B.
German driver's license class CE/C1E desired.
Forklift operator license desired.
LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY LEVEL:
English Language Proficiency level C1 AND German Language Proficiency level C1 required.

This is a permanent fulltime position (38.5 hrs./week)
The incumbent of this position is occasionally required to perform TDY (Temporary Duty Travel).
Working on weekends and holidays as well as shift work required.
On-Call duty required.
Employee must be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
