What We're Looking For
We're seeking a Travel Operations Leader for the German-speaking market (DACH) to join our growing team in Frankfurt - a hands-on leader who excels at both execution and building scalable operations.
As Travel Operations Leader, you'll own daily travel operations in the German-speaking market, actively and directly working alongside the team on complex bookings, VIP itineraries, and escalations. You'll also build operational structure, drive team performance, and ensure SLA and quality standards as we scale. This is a player-coach role for someone who thrives in hands-on execution while creating the systems that enable growth.
What You'll Do
Hands-On Travel Operations
* Personally handle complex corporate travel bookings (air, rail, hotel, car, ancillary)
* Manage VIP, multi-leg, and high-sensitivity itineraries
* Take over critical or high-risk escalations
* Support the team during peak times to ensure SLA compliance
* Maintain direct client contact when required
* Ensure compliance with client travel policies and negotiated programs
Operational & Performance Management
* Own daily service delivery performance across DACH
* Monitor queues, SLA adherence, ticketing timelines, and response rates
* Actively manage workload distribution and operational coverage
* Implement structured escalation frameworks
* Establish and track KPIs (service level, quality, productivity, error rate)
* Ensure operational continuity and coverage planning
Team Leadership & Capability Building
* Lead and mentor Travel Consultants and Senior Consultants
* Provide coaching and quality feedback
* Support recruitment and onboarding of new team members
* Build a culture of accountability, ownership, and service excellence
* Develop internal knowledge-sharing routines and best practice frameworks
Process Design & Scalability
* Identify inefficiencies and bottlenecks in daily workflows
* Collaborate with Product & Tech to improve automation and system workflows
* Standardize SOPs across the DACH operation
* Reduce manual effort through structured improvements
* Ensure quality control mechanisms are embedded and measurable
Cross-Functional Collaboration
* Work closely with Sales and Account Management to support client retention and growth
* Provide operational input in commercial discussions
* Act as operational representative for DACH in leadership discussions
* Support strategic accounts with operational insights
Who You Are
* Strong operator with 7+ years in corporate travel (TMC or business travel environment)
* Has at least 3+ years leading a team in a hands-on capacity
* Highly experienced with GDS systems (Sabre preferred)
* Has managed complex corporate travel accounts in DACH
* Native German Speaker with high-proficinecy in English (verbal and written)
* Understands SLAs, service metrics, and productivity KPIs
* Is comfortable operating in a fast-paced, scale-up environment
