About the RoleAs General Counsel, Ireland, you will sit within Bauer Media’s Irish audio business, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer. The role will have a functional reporting line to the Vice President, Legal and Licensing.In this senior role, you will advise on all legal aspects of Bauer’s Irish audio and outdoor businesses, ensuring compliance with broadcasting regulations, employment law, tender and telephony regulations and other relevant legislation, protection of intellectual property rights and handling of a range of corporate and commercial legal matters and disputes.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide legal counsel on all aspects of the business, including regulatory compliance, contracts, content risks, intellectual property, employment, relationships with landlords and commercial transactionsOversee all legal aspects of broadcasting operations to ensure compliance with Coimisiún na Meán and CommReg requirements and other relevant lawsLead the negotiation and drafting of key contracts, including licensing agreements, public and private tenders, employment and talent contracts and sponsorship agreementsSupport the outdoor business with its relationships with landlords and with its submissions in public and private tendersBuild relationships with key external stakeholders, including trade bodies, collective management organisations, Coimisiún na Meán and CommRegManage legal disputes, including in relation to defamation and contempt issuesManage legal service providersDevelop governance policies and conduct legal risk assessmentsAdvise the executive team on legal strategy, regulatory developments and risk mitigationCollaborate with other departments, including HR, finance and programmingProvide training to staff on legal compliance ethical standardsSkills & ExperienceEssentialQualified solicitor or barrister, admitted to practice law in Ireland with at least 7 years' post-qualification experienceIn-depth understanding of Irish and EU regulatory frameworksExcellent judgment, discretion, and problem-solving skillsStrong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligenceProactive and adaptable, with a continuous learning mindset and resilience under pressureConfident communicator with the ability to mediate and manage sensitive issues diplomaticallyPreferredIn-house experience, ideally in the media and entertainment sectorExperience working directly with relevant regulatory authorities (., Coimisiún na Meán, and CommReg)What you will get : Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
