Description
The Decoking Specialist installs, commissions, troubleshoots and repairs Flowserve’s decoking equipment for our customers in the Oil and Gas Industrie.
This position requires a Specialist that performs field servicing, site repairs and maintenance activities on decoking equipment. The work is normally carried out on customer premises however we may need the specialist to get involved in inhouse repairs, upgrades or other project related activities. The work entails, but is not limited to, removal, inspection, refurbishment, rebuild, installation, commission, start-up, on-site repair, and the completion of applicable reports in an electronic format suitable for submittal to internal and external customer, however not limited to the mechanical part, but also the controls, logic and operation philosophy as well being able to understand the entire operation of the system and the ability to trouble shoot.
Accountabilities
1. People and Safety. Actively support a positive SHEA culture to reduce lost time injuries and recordable accident frequency rate and maintain a safe hazard free work environment. Complete the JSEA and identify the potential hazards at site, and ensure these details are timely shared with the Onsite Services SHEA Manager.
2. People and Safety. Promotes a safe working environment and follow all applicable safety regulations. Comply with site and statutory health and safety requirements and adhere to all routine maintenance of equipment, safety and housekeeping requirements.
3. Process and Technology. Provide comprehensive, written, daily activity as well overall reports and make sure all job related documents like these as well time sheets/cards are completed and released within time.
4. Process and Technology. Being an expert in the field, conduct job walk down for critical jobs prior to the start-up of the service. Validate that the quotations prepared by Commercial Operations are technically sound and aligned with customer expectations.
5. Process and Technology. Visit customer sites, to deliver installation, commissioning and general service related tasks on installations for OEM equipment as well from competitors, this in line with Flowserve established processes.
6. Process and Technology / Customer. Direct interface with Subcontractors, vendors and any supplier working at site with our Field Service crew for critical jobs.
7. Customer. Provide timely response to enquiries for information, and redirect questions as needed to the right resources.
8. Finance. Support the FS Supervisor and Coordinator in providing adequate information on work progress in order to allow them to prepare the financial and utilization forecast.
9. Finance. Provide necessary documentation to the FS Supervisor and Coordinator to enable clients invoice to be raised. Support the job close cycle time, to ensure quick invoicing and collection of receivables as a contributor to the Primary Working Capital.
Position Requirements
10. Qualified as a mechanical engineering apprentice, have good fitting and mechanical skills and be familiar with the alignment of pumping packages.
11. Have knowledge of pumps, together with knowledge of mechanical seals.
12. Have demonstrable experience in the use of laser alignment equipment.
13. Be capable of working on your own initiative with the minimum of supervision.
14. Experience Oil and Gas industries.
15. Able to remain calm and even tempered in the face of challenges, demands, and deadlines
16. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and schematics.
17. The ability and qualification to work at heights
18. The ability and willingness to learn and invest into process applications to understand + overlap the various equipment interfaces for our application.
19. The ability and willingness to learn and invest in instrumentation and basic control topics
20. Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record, be prepared to travel at short notice, work hours outside of your contracted hours when the need arises and be prepared to work away from your home base for periods of time. (up to 2 months for a single project)
21. You should have a good knowledge of requisite health and safety requirements and be capable of working within clients ‘permit to work’ systems.
22. Lifting and slinging qualifications would be advantageous.

24. Good English oral and written language and interpersonal skills are required as the job entails report writing and dialogue with customers and service administration.
25. A knowledge of and the ability to use a PC and related software packages are essential.
26. Perform work ensuring required quality and delivery to meet Flowserve and customer expectations
27. Proactively identify and attend training to develop personal knowledge and skills.
28. Be prepared to work in a local Flowserve facility, as work demands.
29. Ensure ethical behavior in line with Flowserve’s code of conduct.
30. Be prepared for regular travel and away from home working.

Where associates/candidates do not have the skills documented within the position requirements, appropriate training will be given to enable the competency to be reached.
Associates/candidates will be graded using the company’s competency matrix to enable a training plan to be implemented.
