As a Senior Cloud Solution Architect with a focus on Microsoft Azure, you will be responsible for shaping the strategic transformation and deployment of workloads into native cloud architectures. The role ensures that AllianzGI's cloud performant services are secure, scalable, compliant, and cost-efficient, while aligning with internal controls and external regulatory requirements (e.g. DORA, BaFin).
You will oversee the design and optimization of patterns defining our cloud infrastructure network architecture in parallel serving as the strategic counterpart to Microsoft and actively steer relationships with our managed service partners (e.g. Cognizant). This role requires a strong technical foundation coupled with the ability to translate business needs into enterprise-ready solutions.
This position will be based in our Frankfurt/Munich office.
What you will do
• Act as a catalyst for cloud adoption by defining and actively driving cloud strategies and deployment guardrails for AllianzGI workloads across multiple platforms, tailoring engagement to business, technology, and information security stakeholders.
• Preparation and deployment of new cloud landing zones (i.e. Indonesia Central)
• Design, document, and govern AllianzGI's cloud network and infrastructure architecture
• Act as the architectural lead and point for strategic vendor engagements (e.g. Cognizant, Infosys, Microsoft)
• Partner with security and compliance teams to ensure adherence to regulatory frameworks (e.g. DORA, MiFID, BaFin)
• Development of product service catalogue backed via a service delivery pipeline
• Support cloud cost transparency and optimization models, ensuring value realization across the organization
• Provide technical guidance and thought leadership to internal teams and stakeholders, ensuring designs are aligned with AllianzGI's global technology roadmap
• Stay current on Azure services, cloud-native patterns, and market trends to drive innovation
• Review vendor-provided root cause analyses following major incidents and integrate lessons learned into future architecture
• Define and implement operational readiness for AI services: monitoring, logging, runbooks, automated DR, incident/problem management processes, reliability targets.
• Design, deploy and operate a companywide AI Gateway via Azure API Management to enable LLM endpoint governance.
• Enable and provision multi-party AI PaaS, SaaS and integrations covering potential vendors like Amazon, Google, Anthropic, OpenAI, Allianz Tech etc.
What you bring
• Required: Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related discipline; or a minimum of 7 years of equivalent professional experience
• Minimum of 5 years of direct experience as a Cloud Solution Architect with strong focus on Microsoft Azure
• Proven track record in designing and delivering enterprise-scale Azure solutions, including containers, networking, identity, and governance
• Deep knowledge of cloud migration strategies, particularly AVS to native Azure
• Deep knowledge with modern DevOps practices, automation, and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools. Knowledge of Terraform, Ansible is highly desirable
• Strong understanding of cloud security, compliance, and regulatory requirements in the financial services industry
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage with senior leaders and external vendors
• Fluent in English; German is an advantage.
• Ability to use Cloud Computing, Security Architecture, DevSecOps, AIOps, Incident Response
Additional Hiring Criteria
• Azure certifications (e.g. AZ-305, AZ-400, or equivalent) strongly preferred
• Knowledge of GCP & AWS beneficial
• Experience with cloud governance and cost-management tools (e.g. Microsoft Cost Management, FinOps practices)
