Current INTERNAL Local National Employees throughout Germany. This covers all current Local National employees of the U.S. Forces in Germany, including U.S. Air Force and AAFES-Europe within Germany.

EXTERNAL Local National Applicants, who reside in Germany.


Hauptaufgaben

Performs initial, in processing and final inspections on a great variety of multi-fuel self-propelled combat equipment and heavy wheeled vehicles and trailers, subject to minor or major repairs, modification, rebuild, overhaul and repair of major components and combat equipment, including light and heavy tanks, self-propelled howitzers, tank-recovery vehicles, special purpose container systems like: Forward Repair Systems (FRS), Reverse Osmosis Water Purification Systems (ROWPS), cooling containers, personnel carriers, vehicle air condition systems, and special purpose vehicles. Performs in process inspections in line with limited repair tasks. Conducts driving tests for assigned personnel as required and serves as inspector of turrets and fire control equipment before, during and after repair and maintenance.
Performs inspections on automotive and equipment repair work done by others. Inspects the functioning and interaction of power and motion elements, electrical, electronically, cooling, high-pressure hydraulic and suspension systems, instruments and condition of body and chassis. Diagnoses cause and extent of mechanical, electrical, and material defects. Prepares the list of spare parts to be ordered by locating them in the Technical Manual, through the use of GCSS-Army and/or any electronics systems where these can be found (IE: MSD, LDSC Publications etc.). Assists repair shop personnel frequently (daily repair shop visits are recommended) while inspected equipment is in maintenance. Estimates cost for man-hours and material. In case of damages other than fair, wear and tear requests preparation of report of survey or statement of charges. Classifies inspected equipment as to economically or uneconomically repairable. Inspects technical adequacy of completed repair work; makes final road tests. Renders explanation on maintenance procedures to pertinent personnel of permanent and/or frequently changing temporarily assigned organizations. After completion of final inspection, signs inspection reports certifying that vehicle is in satisfactory operating condition or rejects the vehicle and returns same to repair shop along with specific reports prescribing additional repair which is required to bring vehicle up to a satisfactory operating condition. Has signatory authority to certify the safe operational condition and/or final disposition of the inspected vehicle and equipment.
Conducts practical training by instructing section's personnel on repair, driving and/or operating of self-propelled combat equipment and heavy wheeled vehicles. Trains new employees for eventual licensing on all military vehicles through instruction on performance of preventive maintenance, safety checks, and complete road tests on approved and officially designated roads within area. Ensures that prospective driver is instructed about correct rules and traffic regulations governing operation of vehicles. Upon completion of driver training fills in applicable section of Equipment Operators Qualification Section and forwards to shop supervisor for further action. Provides technical assistance to all supported units as required/requested on all types of combat vehicles. Assistance is provided onsite or at inspector worksite as may be appropriate. Documents all assistance provided and reports to the Chief on training weaknesses observed.
Serves as POC for customer complaints pertaining to quality matters occurred after repair and issue of refurbished equipment by the Maintenance Activity Vilseck. Visits customers and verifies, respectively clarifies quality related issues in view of customer satisfaction.

Performs other duties as assigned.

C-5a:
E&T Level I: 2 years of creditable experience as defined in A below PLUS 2 years of experience as defined in B below.

Current employees who do not meet E&T Level I and who are not in the same or similar occupation must have 2 additional years of creditable experience as described in A below.

E&T Level II: 1 years of creditable experience as defined in A below PLUS 2 years of experience as defined in B below.

E&T Level III: 1 year of experience as defined in B below.

E&T Level IV: No additional experience required.

Current employees who have served one year in the same or similar occupation are qualified for the next higher grade.

Experience A: Included clerical work in an office or store, working with computers, bookkeeping, making and recording inventories, telephone marketing, arranging for events or as a cashier, etc.

Experience B: Experience in the same or similar line of work as the job for which considered. The experience must demonstrate that the applicant possesses the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required in the position. The predominant experience must have been gained at a comparable level of difficulty to the position to be filled. The amount of the higher level experience must be in a reasonable relation to the required total number of years.


• Applicants must be in possession of a German driver's license class B/CE and ADR Driver Certificate.
• Preferable are a "Technician" or a "Meisterbrief" in an automotive vocational field.
• Office automation skills required.


LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY LEVEL:

English Language Proficiency level B2 AND German Language Proficiency level B2 required.

Beschäftigungsbedingungen

This is a permanent fulltime position (38.5 hrs./week) / Es handelt sich um eine permanente Vollzeitstelle (38.5 / Woche).

• Falls erforderlich, ist der Arbeitnehmer verpflichtet häufig und regelmässig Dienstreisen innerhalb und ausserhalb Deutschlands durchzuführen und regelmässig Schichtarbeit, Wochenend- und Feiertagsarbeit in erforderlichem Umfang zu leisten. / If requirement exists, the incumbent of this position is obligated to perform TDY within and outside Germany, shift work, weekend and holiday work.

• Heben und Tragen bis zu 18 kg erforderlich. / Employee must be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
