Job Description
The jobholder manages furnace rebuilding projects in any of our European Ardagh plants from a conceptual stage through engineering and implementation to commissioning.
Responsibilities
1. Develop and assess rebuilding options to achieve technical, environmental and commercial requirements
2. Prepare a detailed furnace specification
3. Carry out cost and materials estimates, to develop a project budget and control costs throughout the project
4. Carry out the technical part of the procurement process for contracting engineering and site services
5. Manage the furnace engineering process and participate in the project teamwork during the planning phase including frequent visits and on-site meetings
6. Supervise and manage site works during the actual rebuild on-site supervising contractors and coordinating interfaces with other project areas
7. Supervise and manage heat-up, commissioning, hot insulation, performance tests, snagging items till hand-over to the factory
8. Keep abreast of developments on furnace technology in general and throughout the Group and contribute to Group knowledge and understanding
9. Adhere to and always enforce all Health and Safety regulations and policies
10. Promote the development and implementation of best practice/standardized furnace design across the company
11. Lead the development and delivery of energy efficiency innovations to drive competitive advantage for Ardagh
Requirements
12. Master of science, Certified engineer, or -technician in glass technology, glass production, civil or mechanical engineering or similar qualifications are expected
13. Project management experience
14. Experience of supervising a team and contractors
15. Minimum of 3-5 years job experience in mentioned fields
16. Good English language skills
17. Communication and problem resolution skills
18. Driving license
19. Based in Germany, but the general commitment for business trips has to be available, also for unscheduled travel in case of problems
