The Role
As Head of Product Engineering, you will lead and shape the engineering organization driving our AI-first anti-counterfeiting platform, trusted by thousands of brands to protect their intellectual property. You will define and execute the technical strategy, ensuring our platform scales to process hundreds of millions of online listings, posts, and pages, and delivers actionable insights to our clients. Our platform empowers users to analyze and enrich large datasets, configure AI-based processing rules, and take decisive action - removing counterfeit products from marketplaces and social media. Your leadership will ensure we maximize automation with AI while minimizing repetitive manual work, delivering measurable impact for our clients and their customers.
Responsibilities and Duties
* Leadership & Team Development: Lead and inspire a high-performing team of Backend and Frontend Engineers, fostering technical excellence, mentorship, and continuous learning. Scale the team as needed to meet business objectives.
* Hands-on Coding & Technical Leadership: Actively contribute to the codebase, review designs, write high-quality code, and set engineering standards. Lead by example in backend development, system design, and problem-solving.
* Technical Strategy: Define and drive the technical vision for our codebase, architecture, and data models. Ensure engineering decisions align with product strategy and long-term scalability.
* Product Partnership: Collaborate closely with the Head of Product to shape the product roadmap, translating business goals into technical execution plans and prioritizing initiatives on a quarterly basis.
* Delivery & Quality: Ensure timely delivery of high-quality product features while maintaining system reliability, scalability, and performance. Balance innovation with operational stability and allocate resources for ongoing maintenance.
* Data & Systems Oversight: Oversee data modeling, pipelines, and APIs, ensuring business requirements are accurately translated into technical solutions that enable actionable insights for our users.
* Expert Python coding skills, with deep experience in backend development, data pipelines, and scalable system design. Comfortable writing production-level code and solving complex technical problems.
* Proven leadership managing teams of 8+ engineers, with a hands-on approach to coaching, mentoring, and driving technical excellence.
* Strong experience in data modeling, mapping complex business processes to database schemas, pipelines, and APIs.
* Track record of collaborative work with Product Managers or Business Analysts, balancing business goals with technical feasibility to define the optimal product direction.
* Exceptional attention to detail, able to combine strategic vision with operational execution.
What to Expect
Application
Submit your application through our careers portal. Our Talent Acquisition team reviews applications to ensure candidates meet the basic technical requirements and experience level for the role. Qualified candidates are invited to complete a short online coding assessment via our partner, Canditech - it’s a short assessment, taking around 30 minutes to complete. This test evaluates fundamental Python programming skills, problem-solving abilities, and logical thinking. Successful candidates from the assessment proceed to a first interview with a member of our engineering team. This includes a short live coding exercise to assess your ability to write clean, efficient code and solve problems in real time, along with discussions about your past projects and experience.
Meet with Head of Product. Candidates who progress beyond the first interview will meet with the Head of Product to explore how engineering and product teams collaborate. This conversation focuses on your experience working cross-functionally, aligning technical solutions with product strategy, and contributing to product direction.
Final Interview with VP Engineering. For the final stage, candidates meet with the Tech Lead. This interview focuses on technical depth, and how you approach complex challenges. It’s also an opportunity to discuss the team, projects, and working style to ensure a strong mutual fit.
