Job Description
An emerging technology is Dynamic Wireless Power Transfer (DWPT) that is able to charge the vehicle while driving. In order to evaluate the effect of the DWPT system on the vehicle usage of the battery a Simulation toolchain is under development that allows the development of advanced controls to improve the vehicle efficiency as well as the optimization of the placement on several routes.
Purpose:
The objective of the project is to improve the existing toolchain as effective as possible to simulate the effect of DWPT placement for different routes and different vehicles under various weather conditions.
Project targets:
Activity #1: Requirement analysis
* Analyze the existing toolchain for sensitivity input definition.
* Analyze the effect of DWPT placement on battery usage using Simulation.
* Analyse weather conditions and different vehicle types traffic for given routes of interest.
Activity #2: Function implementation
* Implement the sensitivities in the simulation.
* Report the impact of the sensitivities on vehicle efficiency.
* Create energy management functionality to improve the efficiency on vehicle.
* Simulate the effect of DWPT with energy management and report results.
Qualifications
* Currently enrolled in an engineering study with a focus on automotive engineering (Bachelor or master course)
* Experience in Matlab coding (e.g. parallel processing Toolbox)
* Good English skills both written and spoken
* Fundamental knowledge of electric vehicles and their powertrains
* Experience in simulation activities mandatory using MathWorks MATLAB & Simulink (model creation, calibration, validation, and data analytics)
* Good MS-Office visualization skills are required (especially Excel & PowerPoint for result visualization)
* Independent problem solving and own task management
