About the Department
NHS GGC Pharmacy Services deliver integrated, person-centred care across primary and secondary care, aligned to the Moving Pharmacy Forward strategy. Mental Health Pharmacy Services support inpatient and community services across NHS GGC, working closely with GP practices, Community Mental Health Teams and hospital services to optimise medicines use and improve outcomes.
The role
This senior consultant-level post provides clinical, professional and strategic leadership for mental health pharmacy services across NHS GGC. You will deliver expert clinical care to patients with complex pharmaceutical needs, while shaping service development locally, regionally and nationally. The role spans the four pillars of consultant-level practice: clinical care, leadership, education and research, offering significant opportunity to influence policy, develop the workforce and drive innovation in mental health pharmacy.

Key Responsibilities
Provide expert clinical care to patients with complex mental health needs, including practice as an independent prescriber
Lead the strategic development of mental health pharmacy services across primary and secondary care
Act as senior pharmacy advisor to clinicians, managers and multidisciplinary teams
Contribute to regional and national mental health and pharmacy work programmes.
Lead service innovation, quality improvement, audit and research
Provide leadership, supervision and mentorship to support advanced and consultant-level practice
Support education and workforce development in collaboration with NES, universities and professional bodies
Essential Criteria
Masters degree in Pharmacy (or equivalent)
Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
Registered Independent Prescriber
Postgraduate qualification in Clinical Mental Health Pharmacy (or equivalent)
Consultant-level practice (RPS credentialed or significant work towards)
Significant experience in mental health pharmacy, including strategic service development
Excellent leadership, communication and influencing skills.
Desirable Criteria
Credentialed member of the College of Mental Health Pharmacy
Management or leadership qualification
