The

University of Luxembourg

is an international research university with a distinctly multilingual and interdisciplinary character.
The Luxembourg Learning Centre (LLC) is the University's hub for knowledge sharing, research support and academic collaboration. With over 14,000 m² of dedicated library space and an extensive collection (282 databases, 60k (e-)journals, 827k e-books and 200k books), the LLC serves as a foundation for student learning, research and faculty engagement. The LLC works closely with faculties and interdisciplinary centres to ensure library resources match evolving learning, teaching and research needs.
As the University expands both its health education programs at the Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine (FSTM) (medicine, nursing sciences, midwifery sciences, medical technical radiology assistant and prospective Master in Medicine) and research centres (Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine), we are looking for a Librarian Specialist with a primary focus in Medicine & Health Sciences to join the University library. The position currently serves also other STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) subjects, but will play a pivotal role as medical and health sciences grow, including supporting the future Faculty of Medicine.
Your role
Develop and manage library collections with an emphasis on medicine, health sciences and other STEM fields , e.g., engineering, computer science, life sciences, mathematics
Provide expert guidance, research support and information literacy training tailored to medical and health sciences programs and to all STEM disciplines
Act as a liaison between LLC and University stakeholders, e.g., faculty, researchers, students, and departments, supporting new and expanding programs
Conduct literature searches, systematic reviews and support advanced research and clinical information needs for students, teaching staff and researchers
Develop subject guides, web pages, bibliographies, thematic selections and keep collections up-to-date with fast-moving developments in medicine, health sciences and other STEM subject areas
Implement and promote digital tools, databases and electronic resources in line with University standards and best practices
Define, lead, and continuously enhance standards, methodologies, frameworks and best practices for information management, literature searching and the use of medical and scientific resources, ensuring consistency, quality, and alignment with international academic and clinical standards
Act as a reference expert and authority in medical and health information practices, driving the adoption and continuous evolution of guidelines and processes across the University through training, guidance, and collaborative initiatives
Provide personalised support on clinical decision tools, information searching strategies, AI tools, plagiarism prevention and the ethical use of documentary resourcesAct as a reference expert and authority in medical and health information practices, driving the adoption and continuous evolution of guidelines and processes across the University through training, guidance, and collaborative initiatives
Define, lead, and continuously enhance standards, methodologies, frameworks and best practices for information management, literature searching and the use of medical and scientific resources, ensuring consistency, quality, and alignment with international academic and clinical standards
Assist in collection policy, acquisition planning, budget management and cross-team collaboration to expand and reorganise resources, including preparation for new programs and research areas
Analyse usage data and feedback from internal stakeholders to inform collection evidence-based decisions and improve services
Engage in regular collaborative teaching, consultative feedback, research support and service innovation as part of the UL libraries' mission
Your profile
Master's Degree in Library/Information/Documentation Science OR a Master's in a medical, health or scientific discipline completed with Information Management training
Relevant experience in a university library (5+ years), ideally with a focus on medicine, health sciences or clinical information environments
Familiarity with library management systems, especially Alma, e-resource management and advanced database skills
Up-to-date knowledge of resources, databases and technologies relevant to medicine, health and STEM subjects
Ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams and academic departments
Demonstrated experience in supporting research, teaching and information literacy tailored to diverse user groups
Fluency in English and proficiency in French are required; working knowledge of German and/or Luxembourgish is considered an asset
