Project Director – Major Construction Projects (General Contractor)

We are recruiting on behalf of a leading General Contractor (GC) delivering large, complex construction projects across Germany. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Project Director to take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of flagship projects from pre-construction through to completion.
This is a senior leadership role, responsible for strategy, programme, commercial performance, safety, quality, and client relationships on high-value, technically complex projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide overall leadership and direction for major construction projects in Germany
* Take full responsibility for programme, budget, safety, quality, and risk management
* Lead and manage senior project teams including Project Managers, Commercial Managers, Design, Construction, and Commissioning leads
* Act as the senior point of contact for the client, consultants, and key stakeholders
* Drive project strategy, sequencing, and delivery methodology in line with GC best practice
* Ensure compliance with German regulations, contractual requirements, and corporate governance
* Oversee commercial performance, change management, and reporting at executive level
* Support pre-construction activities including procurement strategy, design development, and contractor appointments
* Foster a strong safety culture and high-performance project environment
Requirements
* Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline
* Extensive experience in a Project Director / Senior Project Manager role with a Main Contractor / General Contractor
* Proven track record delivering large-scale, complex projects in Germany
* Experience in data centres, mission-critical, industrial, or major commercial projects is highly advantageous
* Strong knowledge of German construction regulations and contracting practices
* Excellent leadership, commercial, and stakeholder management skills
* Fluent English required; German language skills strongly preferred
* Willingness to be site- and region-based within Germany
