Job Description: Role Overview We are seeking a skilled and hands‑on IT Technician / Engineer to support and enhance the network, IT, and cybersecurity infrastructure onsite at the Erlangen Lab and support the Lab facilities in India and the United States. This role is responsible for maintaining robust, secure, and efficient IT operations, contributing to system setup and testing activities, and ensuring alignment with industry best practices. Key Responsibilities Oversee and manage the network architecture, configuration, security, and strategic planning for network and device infrastructure for Global Lab Erlangen sites. Organize and manage requirements related to Cybersecurity, Network, Architecture, and associated IT/OT devices. Develop and maintain documentation for network infrastructure, including hardware, protocols, communication links, and cybersecurity strategies. Collaborate with development engineers to resolve IT and network‑related issues during system setup, commissioning, and testing. Develop standardized setup and configuration procedures and implement automated deployment processes for IT equipment and software. Support FAT/SAT procedures to reduce commissioning time; assist with testing for product development and customer projects, including hands‑on lab testing during prototype evaluations. Stay current on company products, developments, and projects as they relate to IT/OT/Network/Controls at both site and enterprise levels. Support central network and cybersecurity tasks for energy storage solutions, including providing guidance and analysis of network/cybersecurity challenges. Maintain hardware and software inventory systems. Enforce strict change‑control procedures and maintain accurate IT documentation. Stay informed on industry best practices and emerging technologies to ensure world‑class IT and cybersecurity standards. Provide updates and reporting to leadership, supporting company strategy as needed. Contribute to performance management and feedback related to Control System technical support KPIs. Demonstrate and promote a strong safety culture, ensuring all required safety training is completed. Travel internationally up to 20% to support global facilities. Required Qualifications & Experience State certified Technician, Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. 2–5 years of experience in OT/Networking within the power utility or related industry, including exposure to EMS/SCADA systems in the transmission/distribution sector. Strong knowledge of OSI model and experience deploying complex network configurations. Hands‑on experience with remote access VPN, site‑to‑site VPN, routers, firewalls, switches (Cisco Industrial), SD‑WAN Experience working with Linux systems, command line tools, Automation technology such as Ansible and Jenkins. Experience with Github. Experience with virtualization and storage technologies such as Proxmox, vSphere. Knowledge of AWS, OpenStack, Docker. Comfortable handling typical IT/OT hardware, including servers and workstations, SAN and NAS systems, industrial controllers, PDUs, and UPSs. Solution‑oriented mindset with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. Excellent communication skills. Fluent in English and German, other language proficiency is an advantage.
