The Basic Infrastructure department is responsible for the SAN, including storage, the mainframe, data center operations, the network, and data backup. Our Basic Services team plans, configures, and administers the infrastructure at the middle service level. We are looking forward to welcoming two new colleagues to our cross-location team in Berlin or Würzburg. Your responsibilities You will play a key role in shaping the team's tasks, take on thematic responsibility, and actively participate in the area of basic infrastructure. The range of tasks in our team extends from Active Directory, Domain Name Service, and NTP to monitoring and logging to load balancers, endpoint security, and conceptual development and automation with Ansible, Git, Chocolatey, or Artifactory. We use both established and new tools and concepts from modern IT and DevOps environments to ensure sustainable, secure, and stable operations. During ongoing operations, you will take on monitoring tasks, evaluate IT procedures, analyze even complex malfunctions, derive appropriate measures, and perform troubleshooting in first and second-level support within the team's area of responsibility (e.g., availability monitoring and optimization of load balancers). You will actively contribute your experience to the planning, design, and documentation of IT operating procedures, participate in the further development and standardization of operating manuals, restart and emergency plans, and provide technical input for sustainable operating processes. You will handle customer requirements independently and in an advisory capacity, particularly with regard to the specific design, evaluation, and configuration of services (e.g., Active Directory, monitoring and logging concepts) as well as in the context of structured analyses and sophisticated troubleshooting. In addition, you will actively participate in the development and implementation of IT security and IT quality assurance measures, including participation in emergency tests, risk assessment, and support for KRITIS audits. You will play an active and responsible role in cross-institutional projects, for example by supporting pension insurance institutions in migrating applications to the data center and, in the future, in the stable and standardized operation of central basic services. You will be responsible for the technical operation of one or more basic services, proactively supporting them, identifying optimization potential at an early stage, and keeping an eye on stability, security, and future viability. As part of the tasks described above, you will participate in on-call duty (alerts via telephone, SMS, messaging) and, if necessary, planned weekend assignments. Due to the cross-location nature of the work, regular, plannable business trips (on a monthly basis) between our locations in Berlin and Würzburg are necessary. Your profile You have a university degree (bachelor's, diploma) in IT or completed vocational training in IT or a comparable qualification (e.g., IT-specific qualification) or several years of relevant practical experience in IT. You have several years of current and in-depth professional experience in an IT environment relevant to the task; ideally, you have experience and knowledge in at least two of the areas listed in the job description. Sound and practical knowledge of the basic infrastructure of a data center. Ideally, you have in-depth knowledge of automation, network infrastructure, SAN, and data backup, as well as a good understanding of current technologies, architectures, and standards. You think holistically, are solution-oriented and forward-looking, see yourself as a team player across departments and divisions, and are highly service- and responsibility-oriented. Ideally, you already have experience in collaborating on or providing technical support for agile working methods and projects. You are willing to participate in on-call duty and regular business trips as described in the job description. Your German language skills correspond to at least language level B2; we are happy to support you in further developing your language skills.
