Biological Engineer in Genetics
We are seeking a highly skilled Biological Engineer in Genetics to join our National Center of Genetics. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) offering a dynamic and challenging work environment.
The National Center of Genetics is part of the Laboratoire National de Santé, a leading institution in Luxembourg's healthcare sector. Our mission is to provide high-level healthcare services to the population, focusing on genetic care and genomic medicine.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Performing high-complexity molecular genetic testing using next-generation sequencing, PCR, and other molecular techniques;
* Conducting comprehensive variant analysis, including interpretation of pathogenicity, significance, and clinical relevance based on current guidelines;
* Collaborating with the clinical team and laboratory personnel to provide accurate and clinically meaningful genetic results;
* Developing, validating, and optimizing molecular assays for genetic testing;
* Maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and ensuring quality assurance and quality control processes are strictly followed;
* Participating in case review meetings, providing expert insights on variant classification and implications;
* Analyzing complex genomic data, integrating bioinformatics tools, and maintaining updated knowledge of gene-disease relationships;
* Preparing detailed reports summarizing findings for clinicians and patients;
* Training and mentoring laboratory staff;
* Maintaining detailed documentation, supporting laboratory accreditation (ISO EN 15189), and audits as a subject matter expert.
You will be working with a multidisciplinary team of highly qualified professionals, employing cutting-edge technology and methods to advance genetic care and research.
To be successful in this role, you should have:
* A Master's degree in Molecular Biology, Molecular Genetics, Genomics, or a related field;
* Experience in genetic variant analysis for diagnostics purposes;
* Good knowledge of MS Office tools;
* Excellent communication skills, ability to work under pressure, and manage urgent tasks efficiently;
* Ability to work in a team, resilience, flexibility, and high commitment;
* Working proficiency in English (written and spoken) is mandatory. Working knowledge of Luxemburgish, French, or German is an advantage.
