The Scientific Computing Center is the Information Technology Center of KIT.
The Research Group Exascale Algorithm Engineering of SCC works at the interface of algorithmics, parallel computing, and applications in networked systems. Our teaching is delivered as part of the Institute of Theoretical Informatics.
In the focus of this position there is research on parallel discrete algorithms that have a strong foundation in theory and are practical at the same time.
Tasks associated with the position are:
Development of novel algorithmic methods at the interface of discrete algorithms and high-performance computing
Investigation of the algorithms- theoretical properties
Research software engineering (implementation of the developed algorithms)
Empirical investigation of use cases
Scientific exchange and publication of results
Participation in the preparation of research proposals
Job requirements:
A master's degree and doctorate in computer science (or a closely related field, e.g., applied mathematics) with excellent grades
Excellent knowledge of the design, theoretical and experimental analysis, and implementation of discrete algorithms and data structures; graph algorithms and C++ as a programming language are of particular interest
Very good knowledge of parallel programming concepts and technologies
Excellent English skills; good German skills are an advantage but not required
Self-motivation, teamwork skills, and a willingness to conduct excellent scientific research, including interdisciplinary work
