A well-capitalised, entrepreneurial investment group focused on acquiring and developing mid-sized industrial and service businesses in succession situations is seeking a Managing Director to join its leadership team.
This firm exclusively invests its own capital and takes a long-term approach. Portfolio companies are managed hands-on and independently, often retaining their brands, locations, and core teams.
As Managing Director, you will play a pivotal role in identifying, acquiring, and managing new portfolio companies, with a path toward full-time leadership of a business post-acquisition.
Responsibilities
* Lead the identification, evaluation, and execution of acquisition opportunities in the DACH region
* Conduct operational due diligence and shape post-acquisition strategy
* Take over interim or long-term operational leadership of acquired companies
* Work closely with founders to ensure a smooth succession and cultural continuity
* Develop portfolio companies strategically while preserving their entrepreneurial roots
Your Profile
* Minimum 4 years at a top-tier management consultancy (e.g., McKinsey, BCG, Bain, etc.)
* At least 2 years of operational experience in an industrial or services company
* Strong educational background combining engineering or natural sciences with financial acumen
* Demonstrated entrepreneurial mindset and leadership potential
* Willingness to be hands-on, including stepping into full-time leadership roles within SMEs
