Vice President of Finance/Chief Financial Officer
Seeking a Financial Leader with Experience for a University with Purpose
Antioch University (AU) seeks an experienced financial leader and higher education administrator to serve as its next Vice President of Finance/Chief Financial Officer (VPF/CFO). The successful candidate will be committed to strong fiscal oversight, institutional financial health, enterprise-wide planning and long-term sustainability.
The University’s mission, “to educate students for meaningful lives and to further social, racial, economic and environmental justice,” informs our institution’s work, strategic planning, and future directions, continuing the historic legacy of “winning victories for humanity,” as embodied in the words of Antioch’s founding president, Horace Mann. The successful candidate must understand the current higher education landscape, be able to navigate the challenges and opportunities, balance shared governance with fiscal decision-making authority, and be comfortable navigating institutional change.
Given that Antioch is a multicampus, multistate University delivering programs onsite, online and in hybrid formats, the VPF/CFO leads a geographically dispersed team that oversees the full range of financial operations, facilities, risk management, business planning, and audit compliance. Central administrative offices are at the University’s Midwest campus in Ohio, but the VPF/CFO is not required to work from that location. The CFO serves as a member of the President’s Cabinet and reports directly to the University President, Dr. Lori Varlotta, who took office in August 2025.
Antioch University partnered with Otterbein University to co‑found the Coalition for the Common Good (CCG). This innovative system of higher education, established in 2023, is committed to creating graduate degree pathways that improve student access and promote the common good. The Antioch VPF/CFO has been elected the CCG Treasurer. In that role, the incumbent works with the CCG President and the CCG Board.
