Your mission
You’ll be a lean, end-to-end hybrid Business Developer with a hunter mentality to uncover and secure hidden battery supply (new, used, and surplus/overstock streams) while also growing demand through pipeline building, new account creation, account management, and deal closing. You’ll negotiate calmly and structurally, manage risk pragmatically across quality, safety, compliance, and reputation, and move quickly when surplus opportunities arise. Trusted relationships are core to the role—you’ll earn suppliers’ confidence to access sensitive commercial and technical information. Remote within Germany, you’ll travel ~20–50% across EU and Asia to meet partners, run audits, and execute deals, reporting to the CRO.
Your profile
Required Qualifications
* 3–8+ years in business development, sourcing, sales, or origination within batteries, automotive, energy storage, electronics, recycling, or adjacent industrial sectors
* Proven track record of closing B2B deals — both on the buy and sell side — with senior stakeholders
* Strong commercial toolkit: pricing, risk assessment, contract terms, account management, and pipeline ownership
* Comfortable with battery fundamentals (chemistry, formats, SoH, degradation) and translating technical fit into commercial decisions
* High process discipline: documentation, traceability, CRM hygiene, and follow-through
* Fluent in English; German and/or additional European or Asian languages are a plus
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
* Experience sourcing used EV batteries or industrial lithium-ion batteries at scale.
* Familiarity with testing/grading approaches (SoH estimation, impedance/OCV checks, diagnostic data).
* Understanding of dangerous goods logistics and cross-border movement constraints.
* Existing network in automotive OEMs, Tier-1s, cell makers, recyclers, and battery service ecosystems.
* Experience with ESG/sustainability stakeholders and circular economy programs.
Supply Side – Sourcing & Qualification
* Actively source lithium-ion batteries from OEMs, manufacturers, dismantlers, and other supply partners
* Qualify supply streams on technical fit (chemistry, format, condition, compliance) and commercial viability
* Onboard supply-side partners to the Circunomics Marketplace; define acceptance criteria with internal teams
Demand Side – Buyer Development
* Identify, approach, and qualify battery buyers (EV manufacturers, recyclers, industrial users, traders)
* Understand buyer requirements (chemistry, format, SoH, quantity, timing) and match them with available supply
* Build and grow long-term key account relationships
Deal Execution
* Own deals end-to-end — from first contact to signed contract
* Lead negotiations on pricing, volumes, payment terms, Incoterms, delivery, and warranties
* Structure deals by category: framework agreements, spot buys, or take-back/offtake arrangements
* Work with legal and compliance on contracts, liability, and regulatory fit
Pipeline & CRM
* Manage a structured pipeline on both supply and demand sides
* Document all deal activity accurately in HubSpot and the Circumomics Marketplace at every stage
* Hit monthly and quarterly targets for deal volume and gross profit
