The Senior Logistics Specialist – Outbound Transportation is part of the C&A Outbound Transportation Team. This role is responsible for managing third-party logistics (3PL) partners and carriers that handle outbound transportation from distribution centers to retail stores. This role ensures service reliability, cost efficiency, and compliance while driving continuous improvement in last-mile delivery operations within the fashion retail network.
Your responsibilities
1. Vendor Management & Governance
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with last-mile carriers and logistics service providers.
* Implement a standardized vendor management framework, including Weekly Business Reviews (WBR) for operational alignment, Monthly Business Reviews (MBR) for performance tracking, and Quarterly Business Reviews (QBR) for strategic alignment.
* Monitor KPIs such as on-time delivery, damage rates, fill rates, and SLA adherence
2. Contract Negotiation & Compliance
* Partners with the Indirect Procurement Team in negotiating service level agreements (SLAs), freight rates, and contractual terms with carriers.
* Ensure compliance with local transportation regulations and company standards.
3. Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement
* Track carrier performance metrics and implement corrective actions.
* Use data analytics to identify trends, optimize routes, and improve service quality.
* Drive innovation in last-mile delivery models (e.g., click & collect, smart lockers).
4. Operational Planning and Operational Execution
* Collaborate with logistics planning teams to forecast volumes and secure capacity for peak periods.
* Partners with our distribution centers and stores on route optimization and load planning to maximize vehicle utilization.
* Ensure timely execution of deliveries to retail stores, minimizing lead time discrepancies.
5. Stakeholder Collaboration
* Work closely with internal teams (Logistics Operations, Indirect Procurement, Finance, Tech, Stores) to align transportation strategies with business needs.
* Act as the escalation point for carrier-related issues and ensure transparent communication.
What you bring
* Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management / Logistics, or a related field
* 5 years’ experience of Operational experience, preferably in Logistics, Supply Chain and Retail environment
* Fluent in spoken and written English, preferably also in German
* Minimum 5 years in vendor management, transportation, or supply chain roles, preferably in fashion retail.
* Familiarity with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), route optimization tools, and last-mile delivery solutions.
* Data affinity, ability to interpret KPIs, cost analysis, and performance data
* Strong skills in communication, stakeholder management and negotiation
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tool set and preferably with Analytical and Project Management tools
* Strategic thinking and ability to manage complex vendor networks.
* Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
