The Army Avionics/Electrical Aircraft AM-2 (FAA A&P Or FCC) performs repairs and troubleshoots aircraft systems and malfunctions of avionics, navigation, electrical, and communications systems.
1. A Valid (FAA) A&P Certificate OR FCC License with Elements 1 and 3 is Required.
2. US Citizenship is Required, with a Valid US Passport to obtain required US Govt Security Clearance.
3. Install, remove, inspect, test, adjust, or repair avionics equipment, such as radar, radio, and navigation systems in aircraft.
4. Installs and repairs electrical wiring and/or cable on aircraft in adherence to established specifications.
5. Cuts and strips wire insulates connections.
6. Assemble components such as switches, electrical controls, and junction boxes, using hand tools and soldering irons.
7. Safely prepare aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks and services.
8. Perform scheduled inspections and assist in performing special inspections.
9. Perform limited maintenance operational checks and diagnoses and troubleshoots aircraft systems using special tools and test equipment as required.
10. Use and perform operator maintenance on tools, special tools and aircraft ground support equipment.
11. Perform other qualified duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
12. High School Graduate or GED equivalent is Required.
13. Five (5) years of recent applicable aircraft maintenance experience is Required.
14. A valid (FAA) A&P Certificate OR FCC License with Elements 1 and 3 is Required.
15. All experience must be within the Five (5) most recent years.
16. Requirements without (FAA) A&P certificate, must possess or willing/able to obtain an FCC License with Elements 1and 3.
17. Three (3) years aviation maintenance experience, Three (3) years rotary wing aircraft experience and Two (2) years of hands-on Avionics mechanic experience on the assigned UH-60, AH-64, CH-47 (MDS).
18. All experience must be within the Five (5) most recent years.
19. If willing and able to obtain an FCC License, please discuss with your Recruiter.
20. Interim NACI approval is required for deployment.
21. A valid US Passport is Required for travel to Germany.
Germany specific requirements:
22. TESA/DOCPER Approval: (German Govt) Must be able to qualify for TESA/DOCPER approval; (with 5 years career total Aviation maintenance experience).
Security Clearance Requirements:
23. Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Govt NAC-I (T1) Public Trust Security Clearance. Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. US Citizenship is required to obtain a Clearance and for facility credentials/authorization to work at this facility.
Knowledge & Skills
24. Thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts.
25. Basic knowledge of electrical theory and a thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers.
26. Working knowledge of technical publications and Logistics Information Systems.
27. Able to prioritize workloads to maintain schedules on assigned projects and may be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks.
28. Participate in maintenance test flights and operation checks as required.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
29. Must be able to climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch, crouch, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
30. Frequently lift parts and equipment up to 20 pounds.
31. Occasionally lift objects up to 50 pounds.
32. Must be immediately deployable to potential combat areas worldwide.
