Aufgaben
The Lola Yamaha ABT Formula E Team competes in the FIA Formula E World Championship, uniting Lola Cars' legendary motorsport heritage, Yamaha’s cutting-edge technology, and the racing expertise of ABT Sportsline.
We are looking for a Simulator Engineer to play a central role in operating, maintaining, and developing our Driver-in-the-Loop (DiL) simulator environment. This includes both hardware and software components and supports our vehicle development and race preparation efforts.
Key Responsibilities
Simulator Operation & Session Support
* Operate and manage DiL simulator sessions with drivers and engineers.
* Prepare simulation runs for car development and race event prep.
Modelling & Software Development
* Develop and maintain vehicle models in MATLAB/Simulink.
* Work with Canopy models (DiL and offline).
* Develop scripts and tools to optimise simulation workflows.
* Maintain and enhance rFpro-based simulation tracks and session setups.
* Update and document track models and simulation environments.
Hardware & Systems
* Maintain and upgrade simulator hardware (sensors, actuators, wiring looms).
* Monitor simulator system health and ensure reliability.
Integration & Communication
* Handle API interactions and CAN-based communication.
* Support vehicle network diagnostics and integration tasks.

Profil
Discipline: Vehicle Simulation / DiL Engineering
Experience Level: 2+ years
Education Level: Degree
Location: Kempten, Germany (occasional travel to support team activities)
Required:
* Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink, Python, and VBA.
* Understanding of real-time systems and vehicle dynamics.
* Experience with CAN communication and system diagnostics.
* Experience operating or supporting DiL or simulation-based environments.
Nice to Have:
* Experience with rFpro (TerrainEditor, SceneEditor).
* Familiarity with Canopy (DiL and offline).
* Knowledge of vehicle network integration and motorsport electronics.
Education & Background
* Degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Electrical, or Motorsport Engineering or a related technical field.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
* Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced racing environment.
* Self-driven and collaborative, with attention to detail.
