Our client is a global fintech at the forefront of digital payments and financial innovation. Operating across multiple jurisdictions, they are committed to maintaining the highest standards of data protection and to strengthen their international Privacy & Data Protection function, they are seeking an experienced Data Protection Lawyer to join their growing legal team in Germany. In this role, you will: Respond to ad-hoc privacy queries from across the organisation and undertake risk assessments as necessary Oversee the company’s Records of Processing Activities (ROPA) Advise on security incidents and data breaches Support the regulatory function in responding to data protection and other regulatory queries, as well as third-party data requests Advise on data subject rights requests and complaints Monitor and interpret emerging trends, new legislation, case law, and regulatory guidance, advising on potential risks and developing mitigating actions Update and maintain the organisation’s suite of privacy notices, cookie policies, and consent forms Assist with the review and negotiation of Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) Update intra-group data processing and sharing agreements Collaborate with the compliance function to identify and close compliance gaps Contribute to the development of privacy and data protection policies through engagement with regulators, industry groups, and public consultations To be considered for the role, you should: Be a German qualified lawyer Have 2 years of relevant experience, ideally in data protection and privacy related matters Have a solid understanding of UK/EU data protection and ePrivacy laws; knowledge of other global privacy regimes is an advantage Have practical experience advising on GDPR compliance, data governance, and privacy risk management Be analytical, pragmatic, and proactive, with a collaborative approach to problem-solving This is a rare and exciting opportunity to help shape the global data privacy strategy of a major international business at the intersection of regulation, innovation, and ethics.
