The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Münster invites applications for a
W3 professorship (with leadership responsibilities) in Pathobiochemistry
at the Institute of Physiological Chemistry and Pathobiochemistry, commencing in September 2027.
The successful candidate will be expected to represent the field comprehensively in both research and teaching. The position includes the leadership of an independent department within the Institute of Physiological Chemistry and Pathobiochemistry; furthermore, the candidate will be expected to assume responsibilities for the management of the Institute of Physiological Chemistry and Pathobiochemistry.
The successful candidate will be expected to represent a field within medical pathobiochemistry that is relevant to the local research foci and University Research and Treatment Centers (URTC) – ideally in the area of inflammation – in both research and teaching to the full extend. He/she should possess a proven track record of scientific excellence, demonstrated by outstanding publications in leading international and interdisciplinary journals, the continuous acquisition of qualified external funding (particularly from the German Research Foundation (DFG), the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), and the EU) and a documented strong national and international network.
The Faculty of Medicine seeks active collaboration with the existing local research foci of the Faculty of Medicine and the University, current and future DFG-funded research consortia, the University Research and Treatment Centers (URTC), the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Biomedicine, the Cells in Motion Interfaculty Centre, and related disciplines.
A solid foundation of expertise and a strong commitment to a high-quality teaching program in basic biochemistry/pathobiochemistry for students of preclinical medicine and dentistry are required.
Prerequisite for this position is an academic degree in biology, biochemistry, chemistry or medicine as well as scientific achievements gained within a junior professorship, habilitation or position as research scientist at a university/school of higher education or a non-university institution. Further prerequisites are stated in § 36 of legal regulations of the higher education act (Hochschulgesetz).
