What's the challenge?
* Lead and coordinate the collision avoidance team for Copernicus missions at ESOC.
* Monitor conjunction warnings and communicate alerts to relevant parties.
* Support spacecraft flight control teams in collision avoidance and routine orbit control manoeuvres.
* Be an integral part of the mission control team during spacecraft launches.
* Maintain and enhance ESA’s collision warning systems, including developing and deploying new functionalities.
* Conduct analysis on space situational awareness (SSA) topics, including space debris and traffic management.
* Collaborate with third parties, such as spacecraft operators and SSA systems.
As the team coordinator:
* Report on service delivery and organize team shifts and holidays.
* Distribute tasks and contribute to operations planning and improvements.
What we're looking for:
Technical Skills:
* Deep expertise in astrodynamics, particularly near-Earth orbits and perturbations.
* Strong background in collision avoidance, SSA operations, and spacecraft operations.
* Proficiency in advanced Linux systems.
Additional valued skills include:
* Orbit determination, space debris environment modeling, Python, Fortran, and Postgresql.
Educational Background:
* Degree in aerospace engineering or a similar field.
Professional Experience:
* Over 10 years of relevant experience in collision avoidance, SSA, or similar domains.
Personal Attributes:
* Availability for 24/7 on-call duties.
* Strong communication and leadership skills.
* Ability to perform under time-sensitive conditions.
