Model Risk Governance and Review (MRGR) is a global team of modeling experts within the firm’s Risk Management and Compliance organization. The team is responsible for conducting independent model review and model governance activities to help identify, measure, and mitigate Model Risk in the firm.
As a Vice President within our Model Risk Governance & Review team, you will be a senior member of the MRGR LE Group in Frankfurt covering Legal Entity model risk. As a part of the team, you will be responsible for establishing the model risk policies and procedures for the SE entity, as well as other material Legal Entities and act as a first point of contact for all model risk related queries from regulators and audit for material Legal entities. In addition to responsibilities within the MRGR Legal Entity team, you will also support model risk review activities for International Consumer Banking (ICB).
Job responsibilities
1. Be the first point of contact for all model risk related questions from regulators and audit associated with material Legal Entities within JPMorgan
2. Design model risk policies, procedures and guidelines ensuring the LE usage of models within JPMorgan is well controlled and understood.
3. Participate in model risk committees and forums to ensure that the appropriate governance is in place around the model risk inherent in the business conducted by material LEs
4. Liaise with Risk and Finance professionals to provide oversight of and guidance on appropriate usage, controls around model restrictions & limitations, and findings for model reviews and ongoing performance assessment & testing
5. Maintain model risk control apparatus of material LEs
6. Keep up with the latest developments in coverage area in terms of products, markets, models, risk management practices and industry standards.
7. Support and conduct independent model reviews for International Consumer Banking (ICB), working closely with global stakeholders to ensure model risk is appropriately identified, assessed, and managed.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
8. PhD or MS degree in a quantitative areas (Math Finance, Applied Math, Physics, Engineering or similar).
9. Prior experience in following backgrounds: Model Governance, Model Validation, Regulatory Relations.
10. Solid grasp of financial math, probability theory and advance numerical methods
11. Strong quantitative & analytical skills: Ability to understand and discuss model risk related issues.
12. Ability to read and interpret supervisory statements and regulatory policy.
13. Strong communication and presentation skills and ability to interface with regulators, audit, other functional areas in the bank on model-related issues.
