The Team Software & Technology Services (STS) is a pan‑EMEA team renowned for deep sector expertise and a differentiated approach to solving critical business problems. We deliver complex transformations, including product and engineering cost optimization, productivity improvement, and re‑platforming of software products and IT & OT platforms. Our work spans pre‑deal commercial, technical, and operational due diligence, post‑merger integration, and carve‑outs. Team members may also take interim leadership roles, such as CTO, to drive client success. We combine in‑industry and advisory experience, collaborating closely with specialists across A&M Business Units to deliver seamless, high‑impact solutions for our clients. The Role You will engage with two primary client types: Software product businesses Tech‑enabled organizations (e.g., payments companies, media firms with streaming platforms) You will lead and execute assessments, transformations, and due diligence projects, leveraging your industry experience and technical acumen to deliver measurable results. Key Responsibilities Assess product roadmaps, non‑functional requirements, and technical debt Evaluate software architecture, including open‑source adoption Review engineering organization scalability and delivery capability Analyse operating models, ways of working, and supporting technical functions Examine customer and engineering data for actionable insights Assess use of ALM tools (e.g., Jira), build chain tooling, and cloud/hosting infrastructure Develop and manage data request lists; interrogate client systems Build quantitative and qualitative fact‑bases for assessments Execute due diligence for product and engineering functions, delivering client‑ready reports to Private Equity and Corporate clients Diagnose and redesign operating models for software businesses Coach clients through major change initiatives Chair meetings, run workshops, and present executive‑level updates and final readouts Supervise and mentor junior staff, fostering a collaborative and high‑performance culture Technical Competencies and Experience 10+ years relevant experience in the software industry or software‑focused business units and professional services Minimum 5 years consulting to the tech industry Experience in leading and delivering performance improvement or transformation engagements Experience with private equity sponsors, portfolio companies, or related transaction/product and tech due diligence Deep expertise in Agile methodologies and their application across large‑scale, distributed software product organizations Proven track record in implementing evidence‑based business improvement initiatives Familiarity with market‑leading tools for Agile process automation, testing, and continuous deployment Strong understanding of modern software architecture (e.g., microservices, service mesh, cloud‑native platforms) Ability to translate technical insights into commercial implications Desirable: Knowledge of cyber security concepts for software development organizations, including security‑by‑design in DevOps Soft Skills Thrive in fast‑paced, challenging, and unpredictable environments Excellent facilitation skills; able to forge consensus and drive executable solutions Outstanding written and oral communication skills; confident presenter and business fluency in English & German essential Ability to summarise key insights into client‑ready deliverables and ensure quality standards Hands‑on, non‑hierarchical operator guided by values and integrity Builds confidence, leads by example, and manages day‑to‑day relationships effectively Excel in our highly collaborative environment where teamwork and open communication are key, while taking ownership and accountability for meeting milestone deliverables Measurable Outcomes Deliver performance improvement and cost optimisation for client product and engineering organisations Lead transformation projects resulting in measurable business impact (e.g., productivity gains, cost reductions) Provide actionable recommendations and support successful implementation Interested candidates should demonstrate a blend of technical depth, commercial acumen, and leadership capability.
