Hauptaufgaben

Performs supply and services support functions within an Ammunition Support Activity, which supports troops with ammunition, explosives and related components, required for the accomplishment of live fire gunneries and field exercises. Technically supervises the work performance of military personnel performing functions in the receipt of shipments, troops' live ammunition, and residue and packing material turn-ins; storage, issue, preparation of outgoing shipments and preparation for inspection of the above items. Provides authoritative advice to customer units on matters pertaining to ammunition related storage and turn-in procedures, the operation of the ASA's salvage and residue yard and the use of the ammunition amnesty point.
Plans work schedules and sequence of operations, in coordination with higher level supply specialists, military key personnel, and quality assurance personnel. Plans for the availability of sufficient tools, equipment, protective clothing and equipment and expandable supplies (i.e. paint, packing material, seals, etc.), and ensures that material, vehicles and forklifts used for daily work operations are properly functioning and meet prescribed standards. Coordinates the activities of assigned area with other depot elements, to ensure maximum use of manpower, equipment and to adhere to established safety and security requirements. Coordinates the timely preparation of informal and formal ammunition condition reports with quality assurance personnel. Ensures an even flow and distribution of work, explains work requirements and details, ensures the expeditious handling of priority customer issue and turn-in appointments, and the meeting of schedules and deadlines. Revises work schedules to meet changes in workload priorities, considering such factors as peak loads, availability of manpower and processing time requirements, and assures accomplishment of assigned workload. Checks progress of work. Enforces employees' adherence to established safety requirements, the use of safety equipment and compliance with fire regulations. Explains work requirements, methods, and procedures, and gives special instructions on difficult and unprecedented operations. Informally counsels employees on performance problems. Refers disciplinary actions to military key personnel. Instructs assigned employees on safety and operational matters, and provides on-the-job training to newly assigned military personnel.
Performs functions in the operation of the ASA's Storage Sections, Inspection Line, Salvage/Residue Yard and Amnesty Point, within the framework of established supply policies, regulations, procedures, and internal SOPs, and within the range of authority delegated by supervisor and military key personnel. Advises customer units on the intent, coverage, and content of instructions, guides, precedents and regulations pertaining to special requirements for ammunition handling and storage. Recommends and discusses contingency plans to move, and relocate ammunition in case of disasters, work stoppages or restrictions at the duty station. Establishes directives pertaining to the issue, receipt, palletizing, care and preservation, inventory. Ensures that ammunition is stored or released in compliance with approved storage procedures, drawings, storage space charts and material release orders. Monitors the proper securing of loading and storage areas, ensuring that explosive weight limitations and quantity requirements for the different hazard classes established for bunkers, inspection facilities, open storage sites and loading areas are not exceeded during intra-depot transfers. Is left the authority to discontinue service to customer units, if critical limits are reached or even exceeded. Initiates 100% inspections and recertification processes, if discrepancies are identified during turn-ins or inventories. Ensure that accountable residue items are annotated in the stock control system. Ensures that customer units will be provided a secure place within the ASP to park loaded vehicles overnight. Ensures that hazardous waste such as chemically treated Job wooden boxes, and items that contain radio luminous material are handled and stored in accordance with established policies and procedures. Coordinates the disposal of hazardous waste and unserviceable ammunitions with responsible activities, such as contractor firms, DEH environmentalists, DRMO and DLA, acts as Inert-Inspection-Certifier and signs MPPEH-Form. Ensures that applicable fire symbols and chemical hazard marking are mounted at all ammunition storage facilities and ammunition conveyances within the depot area. Prepares activity reports indicating man-hours used, work accomplishment, personnel status and related production data. Coordinates self-help programs on maintenance and/or repair of storage facilities, perimeter fences and grounds.
Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifikationsanforderungen

• Office Automation skills are required.

• Drivers license class B desired.

C-5:
E&T Level I: 2 years of creditable experience as defined in A below PLUS 1 year of experience as defined in B below.
Current employees who do not meet E&T Level I and who are not in the same or similar occupation must have 2 additional years of creditable experience as described in A below.

E&T Level II: 1 year of creditable experience as defined in A below PLUS 1 year of experience as defined in B below.

E&T Level III and above: No additional experience required.

Current employees who have served one year in the same or similar occupation are qualified for the next higher grade.

Experience A: Included clerical work in an office or store, working with computers, bookkeeping, making and recording inventories, telephone marketing, arranging for events or as a cashier, etc.

Experience B: Experience in the same or similar line of work as the job for which considered. The experience must demonstrate that the applicant possesses the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required in the position. The predominant experience must have been gained at a comparable level of difficulty to the position to be filled.


C-5a:
E&T Level I: 2 years of creditable experience as defined in A below PLUS 2 years of experience as defined in B below.
Current employees who do not meet E&T Level I and who are not in the same or similar occupation must have 2 additional years of creditable experience as described in A below.

E&T Level II: 1 years of creditable experience as defined in A below PLUS 2 years of experience as defined in B below.

E&T Level III: 1 year of experience as defined in B below.

E&T Level IV: No additional experience required.

Current employees who have served one year in the same or similar occupation are qualified for the next higher grade.

Experience A: Included clerical work in an office or store, working with computers, bookkeeping, making and recording inventories, telephone marketing, arranging for events or as a cashier, etc.

Experience B: Experience in the same or similar line of work as the job for which considered. The experience must demonstrate that the applicant possesses the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required in the position. The predominant experience must have been gained at a comparable level of difficulty to the position to be filled. The amount of the higher level experience must be in a reasonable relation to the required total number of years.


LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY LEVEL:

• English Language Proficiency Level C1 required.
• German Language Proficiency Level C1 required.

Beschäftigungsbedingungen

This is a temporary part-time position 20 hrs/week) until return of incumbent NTE 6 Dec 2027.

Position may be filled at the C-05 or at the full performance level, C-5A. Incumbent may be non-competitively promoted to the next higher or full performance level in accordance with regulatory requirements, upon completion of required training, and recommendation of supervisor.

If requirements exists, the incumbent of this position is obligated to perform TDY within and outside Germany, shift work, weekend and holiday work. / Falls erforderlich, ist der/die Arbeitnehmer/in verpflichtet haeufig und regelmaessig Dienstreisen innerhalb und ausserhalb Deutschlands durchzufuehren und regelmaessig Schichtarbeit, Wochenend- und Feiertagsarbeit in erforderlichen Umfang zu leisten
