About the Role
The Director Europe for Onshore Wind and BESS is a Senior Commercial and Strategic leadership role within the European Business Centre. This position carries full accountability for all commercial topics of the onshore wind and BESS business unit across the European key markets, encompassing and supporting sales, order intake, customer relationships, and cross-functional delivery coordination. The Director serves as the primary market-facing leader, responsible for defining and executing the regional onshore wind and BESS go-to-market strategy in alignment with global corporate objectives. The role requires a deep understanding of the onshore wind value chain – from turbine technology and supply chain dynamics to grid integration, project finance, and long-term service agreements.
Responsibilities
* Develop our emerging onshore wind and BESS business and be the leading commercial part of an expert team driving attractive offerings for our clients
* Ensure the commercial support for and review of tender documentation, define pre-award commercial requirements and negotiations are in alignment with defined business targets and margin requirements
* Support in defining, implementation and operational support of the overall commercial strategy of the national regional organizations
* Identify and assess new market opportunities, technology trends (e.g. larger turbines, hybrid projects, repowering), and emerging customer segments
* Support and align pricing structures, align with business strategy requirements, review commercial summaries, and oversee input for bid documentation
* Develop, maintain and track Conditions of Contracts from bid to implementation
* Ensure the Coordination of commercial topics with internal stakeholders and external partners
* Support commercial risk management- and development of mitigation strategies
* Lead, mentor, and grow a team of commercial managers, and business development professionals
* Establish a high-performance culture with a strong focus on accountability, customer centricity, and continuous development.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration and/or Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Energy, Industrial, or similar)
* Minimum 12–15 years of experience in the onshore wind and BESS energy sector, with at least 5 years in a senior commercial or business unit leadership role within an OEM, IPP, or large-scale developer.
* Demonstrated track record of successfully leading and closing large-scale, complex turbine supply contracts (>100 MW) including full contract lifecycle management
* Deep knowledge of the onshore wind and BESS value chain: turbine and battery technology, grid integration, balance-of-plant (BoP), permitting, O&M, and asset financing
* Structured, analytical, and detail-oriented working style
* Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint); project tools are a plus
* Very good English skills; additional languages are an advantage
Required Skills
* Advanced commercial negotiation and contract management skills, including experience with EPC, turbine supply, O&M, and PPA structures.
* Analytical proficiency in financial modelling, business case development, and risk assessment for complex, multi-year projects.
* Proficiency in CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), ERP platforms (e.g., SAP), and data-driven pipeline management tools.
* Strong understanding of wind resource assessment, energy yield analysis, and turbine performance metrics.
