Staff should spend time on patients. That’s why we build Luna. Our AI receptionist, Luna, answers and automates phone calls and she’s loved by more than 100 medical practices. Right now, we’re expanding her from calls to end-to-end patient communication across any channel. Over the next years, we’ll grow her into an AI worker that automates all administrative processes in medical practices, embedded directly into the systems teams already use. We’re hiring a Data Integration Lead to build the integration foundation that enables Luna to automate practice workflows across hundreds of thousands of medical practices. The role Integration is the bottleneck and the unlock: Luna can only automate workflows when she can reliably read and write the source of truth inside a practice: schedules, patient context, messages, statuses, and workflow metadata. That data lives in practice management systems (PMS) and related tools. You’ll start hands-on, shipping production integrations. As the integration surface grows, you’ll shape the architecture, standards, and processes that keep integration work scalable. Integrations also determine what Luna can automate next. You’ll work closely with the founders on the technical and strategic choices that expand Luna’s capabilities fastest while keeping reliability high. Over time, you’ll grow into building and leading our data integration team - mentoring, hiring, and setting direction while staying close to the hardest technical work. This role is on-site in Berlin and requires fluent German. What you’ll do Build integrations that unlock Luna’s next capabilities Design and implement read/write integrations into third-party practice management systems Design infrastructure that scales to hundreds of thousands of individual practice servers Engineer reliability into the system: data consistency, idempotency, retries, error handling, observability Triage integration failures in production, communicate impact clearly, and harden the system so the same class of failure doesn’t repeat Make integration a scalable capability Define technical standards and architecture for integrations Establish pragmatic processes for development, maintenance, and incident handling Mentor engineers; help hire and onboard engineers as the team forms Be the technical point of clarity when external systems are messy and priorities compete What we’re looking for Must-have Strong hands-on programming experience in TypeScript or Rust Proven experience building and running complex data integrations in production Strong understanding of integration patterns, distributed systems, and failure modes Comfort operating in messy environments (inconsistent behavior, missing docs, etc.) Clear communication under pressure (during incidents, vendor issues, competing priorities) Strong prioritization instincts: what to ship vs. what to harden, without compromising correctness Fluent German (spoken and written) Several years of experience in startups or scale-ups Excited to work on-site in Berlin in a fast-moving build-mode environment Nice-to-have Prior work on healthcare software or practice management systems Familiarity with healthcare workflows, terminology, or data standards (e.g. FHIR) Experience acting as a technical lead (formal or informal), including mentoring to increase throughput without lowering quality Experience building teams from an early stage How we work We optimize for impact in production: automation practices trust daily.
