Local Medical Affairs Activities Encompasses a close collaboration with local commercial and marketing colleagues to develop a strategic and tactical medical launch plan for the DACH region. This includes a communication plan in line with overarching global strategy and the development and conduction of medical projects that ensure scientific, medical and commercial value (e.g. early access or compassionate use program, development of local tactical plans, internal and external training materials, etc.): • Provide input to the local regulatory launch activities, i.e. product health technology assessment, reimbursement procedure and health insurance interaction and support the product availability • Support commercial colleagues in the development of the local brand plan and in their implementation • Develop a local medical strategy and tactical plan • Ensure, that all specific pre-, peri- and post-launch medical activities are executed according to the defined plan (e.g. AdBoard, training materials, etc.) • Quality check and medical approval according to regulatory requirements of all local marketing materials • Manages a local medical information system • Delivers internal training: o Product Training:, competitor analysis, product development, etc. o Training in therapeutic area: Diseases and products, clinical research methodology, medical statistics and medical writing • Discuss and support development of high-quality investigator-initiated studies and scientific publications in alignment with the Global Medical strategy • Participate in the development and implementation of clinical and epidemiological studies in close collaboration with the global team, and in compliance with internal procedures 2. KOL management and scientific expertise Encompasses all activities relating to offering KOL the credibility and objectivity of a peer and being able to discuss proactively scientific issues within the disease area and related. In order to do so, the DACH Medical Director maintains and continuously expands his/her expertise to be a credible, established and trusted sources of accurate and up-to-date medical and scientific knowledge and to be able to communicate it efficiently: • Identify and map current and future KOL and develop an engagement strategy within the therapeutic area of NPC • Serves as leading medical representative to health care professionals in the DACH region, coordinating medical interactions with KOLs, providing advanced disease and product information and support pro-actively clinical and medical research activities • Connects KOLs with other organizational resources e.g., outcomes research specialists, scientists, clinical research physicians, sales and marketing, etc. and supports their publication activities within the disease area and on arimoclomol • Manage current KOL and develop potential future KOL and explore areas of medical collaboration • Organizes sponsor’s scientific events e.g. peer-to-peer round tables, KOL lead seminars/symposia and advisory board meetings and select, guide and coach external speakers • Maintains up-to-date insights regarding the development in the local pharmaceutical environment as well as disease states and product mix of interest including competitors, EU/National product promotion regulations and regulations on clinical research • Responds in a timely manner to inquiries, with any available information which may include reprints, posters, medical letters, literature citations, access to internal and external experts, slides and other teaching-related material 3. Organizational effectiveness Encompasses the training, the development and support of a local MSL team to ensure a focused and aligned Medical Communication activities of the MSL team. It also includes all activities needed to ensure sufficient internal communication between the affiliates and the Global Medical Affairs and Commercial HQ in Switzerland: • Interfaces between all the arimoclomol resources such as clinical research physicians, country field representatives, local business managers and various Global functions • Leads the local implementation of medically owned projects/programs from the brand plan • Is a strong medical partner for the commercial functions in the DACH region • Manages, guide and develop the local MSL team, sets meaningful objectives and goals, supervises and continuously evaluate and support the team for optimal performance Required Qualification, Experiences and Skills Qualification & Experience PhD, PharmD, MD or an equivalent degree with proven track record in biochemical /medical research and experience in medical affairs Minimum of 10 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry and at least 7 years Medical Affairs experience; experience in the neurological rare disease area is a plus Additional plus • Pre-launch and launch experience • Experience in managing patient registries, early access programs, clinical studies and/or investigator-initiated studies Skills Scientific
