We’re seeking an exceptional Medical Affairs leader to shape and execute the global strategy for a flagship brand at a large, highly successful, fast-growing global pharmaceutical company.
This is a high-visibility, global leadership role at the centre of one of the industry’s most impactful assets, owning strategy, team leadership and external engagement across key markets, with particular focus on the US and other priority countries.
Why this role is unique
* Global impact: Set and deliver the Medical Affairs vision for the company’s largest cardio-renal-metabolic brand, improving outcomes for millions of patients worldwide.
* Scale & scope: Lead a sizeable, multidisciplinary team across Medical Affairs, Scientific Relations and RWE, orchestrating work across regions and affiliates in a complex, fast-moving therapy area.
* Strategic ownership: Drive an integrated Asset Evidence Plan (AEP) and externally focused scientific narrative to sustain growth and differentiation for a mature, market-leading product.
* Executive exposure: Operate at the highest levels of the organisation and alliance, influencing decisions and priorities across global, regional and key-country stakeholders.
* Career platform: A springboard into broader enterprise leadership for a top-tier performer.
What you’ll do
* Set the global Medical Affairs strategy for a multi-indication CRM brand; align objectives, plans and tactics with cross-functional partners and priority markets.
* Lead and develop a high-performing team (Medical Affairs, RWE, Scientific Relations), building a culture of trust, accountability, collaboration and innovation.
* Own the evidence strategy (AEP): prioritise and deliver real-world and other evidence to support continued commercialisation, market leadership and lifecycle objectives.
* Shape external engagement: partner with KOLs, societies, advocacy groups and healthcare systems to build a compelling, competitive scientific story across countries.
* Drive cross-functional excellence: collaborate closely with Market Access, Marketing, Regulatory and affiliates to ensure coherent, externally oriented deliverables for focus markets (with strong emphasis on the US).
* Represent the brand at senior levels: provide clear strategic recommendations, communicate with conviction, and navigate a complex alliance and matrix environment.
About you
* Experienced physician leader: Board-certified MD strongly preferred (Endocrinology, Cardiology, Nephrology or Primary Care); PhD/PharmD candidates with outstanding Medical Affairs track records also considered.
* Blockbuster track record: Proven experience driving brand expansion and scientific leadership for large, global assets — shaping strategy and evidence to grow a pre- or post-launch blockbuster across new indications, geographies, and healthcare settings.
* Global + country credibility: Significant international experience with tangible impact in top markets; prior US exposure preferred. You understand how affiliates operate and what “great” looks like in-market.
* Evidence leadership: Proven ability to set evidence priorities and deliver RWE and other data that change conversations with payers, prescribers and systems.
* People & stakeholder leader: Track record building and inspiring diverse, international teams; executive presence, superb communication and influencing skills.
* Bias to action: Moves with urgency, prioritises ruthlessly, and delivers outcomes while maintaining diplomacy and strong relationships.
Location & travel
* Hybrid in a key European hub (Germany); regular on-site collaboration with global and alliance colleagues.
What’s in it for you
* Opportunity to lead the Medical Affairs agenda for the company’s most visible, multi-indication brand.
* Significant scope, resources and senior sponsorship to drive impact.
* Competitive executive package aligned to the seniority of the role.
