Hauptaufgaben
Performs duties concerned with the preparation of plans, specifications, and engineering estimates covering mechanical and sanitary systems, such as heating, ventilation, air conditioning, UEMC-System, water distribution, sewage and refrigeration. Projects are very complex and complicated valuing multi-million dollars introducing highly sophisticated mechanical systems into buildings. Projects also include major repairs, maintenance, rehabilitation, and alteration to existing structures of government facilities, office buildings, living quarters, plants, shops, hospital and related structures, air traffic control towers, flight simulators, confinement facilities, tank flushing stations, etc..
Performs designs in-house taking into consideration design objectives, technical calculations, and identifies most economical and efficient procedures for project design and performances considering all influences and prepares necessary drawings, specifications, and supporting documents for advertised or negotiated procurements.
Manages the Project Management Relationship with Architect/Engineer contractor firms to ensure design excellence and space requirements are met. Prepares correspondence, technical reports, fact sheets, status reports, and schedules as required to complete project assignments. Reviews and evaluates shop drawings, samples and material certifications submitted by contractor for contract and performance requirements, recommending approval, rejection or revision. Furnishes technical advice to lower grade engineers on possible approaches to the solution of specific design problems.
Develops and prepares detailed project specifications, cost estimates and bills of material for maintenance and repair of facilities. Determines scope of necessary work by on-site inspections and considers type and quality of material and equipment required to accomplish projects. Discusses details with representatives of requesting agencies. Assists in the preparation of construction item justification data submitted to higher authorities for approval/disapproval of individual major construction projects. Acts as Project Manager and/or contracting officer's representative (COR or ACOR) on Architect/Engineer (A-E) design contracts and on projects executed thru the host nation construction agency "Landesbetrieb Liegenschaft und Baubetreuung" (LBB) as well.
Consults with other in-house Project Managers and Contracting Officers Representative (CORs) to resolve differences and complex unforeseen problems and latent conditions developing during construction and based on the condition, prepares sketches or change drawings and specifications solving the problem and incorporates these change documents into the contract performance documents.
For projects designed in-house, performs or directs the survey and investigations at the project site to determine condition of facilities and to secure necessary data prior to initiating design, evaluates the data obtained and incorporates the salient factors into the design considerations and solutions.
Performs other duties as assigned.

E&T Levels I thru IV: not creditable for positions in this occupational series.
E&T Level V: Applicants for positions in this series are required to be graduates from a Fachhochschule, a Berufsakademie, or a Technische Hochschule as an Engineer in the discipline specifically required for the position. Graduates must be fully recognized by German authorities to practice the engineering profession in Germany. Applicants from foreign countries must obtain an equivalent certification from pertinent German authorities that certifies recognition to practice the engineering profession in the area of specialization of the position.
• Applicants must be in possession of a German driver's license class B.
• CAD (Microstation 8) and Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, Access etc.) required.
LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY LEVEL:
English Language Proficiency level C1 AND German Language Proficiency level C1 required.
