About SWARM Biotactics
At SWARM Biotactics, we're creating biorobots — living, intelligent systems based on insects. Each insect carries a custom-designed backpack enabling wireless control, sensing, and secure communication.
Biorobot swarms combine the efficiency of biology with AI, sensing, and swarm coordination — unlocking capabilities where conventional machines fail.
We are the only company in the world doing this — and we're building the foundational systems that make living machines possible.
Join us at the frontier — and help create the first generation of living machines.
Your Role
You will define and own the core communication and messaging architecture of living biorobot swarms.
This role exists because conventional networking models break when nodes are biological, mobile, energy-limited, and only loosely synchronized. There is no fixed infrastructure, no stable topology, and no separation between sensing, ranging, and communication.
You will operate close to the radio and baseband layers, shaping how physical-layer realities propagate upward into decentralized swarm behavior. Your work will directly determine how living agents coordinate, localize, and act collectively in the real world.
This is a foundational role with no blueprint and no precedent.
What You'll Do
* Own the end-to-end communication backbone of biorobot swarms, from radio assumptions to network behavior
* Design swarm-native, decentralized topologies under extreme constraints in energy, timing, mobility, and bandwidth
* Co-design ranging and communication as a unified system, tightly coupled across radio, baseband, and messaging layers
* Translate biological, physical, and electronic constraints into first-principle communication architectures
* Prototype, test, and iterate rapidly with embedded, baseband, swarm intelligence, and biology teams
Your Profile
You bring 8+ years of professional experience in wireless communication, networking, or distributed systems (internships, master,...excluded), with strong proximity to radio and baseband systems.
You understand how:
* RF behavior and baseband processing shape system-level performance
* Timing, synchronization, and ranging interact with communication reliability
* Energy constraints dominate architectural decisions
You are comfortable working close to electronics — even if you are not a hardware designer — and you can reason fluently from the physical layer upward.
You are not looking to apply existing standards.
You are looking to invent new communication models.
How You Work
This role is intentionally selective.
You are:
* Mission-driven, with a bias toward ownership over scope
* Creatively bold, comfortable operating without precedent
* At ease with uncertainty, risk, and incomplete information
* Curiosity-led, questioning assumptions across disciplines
* Openly collaborative, sharp in debate and fast to converge
* Resilient to failure, treating iteration as the cost of discovery
If you need mature stacks, fixed problem boundaries, or guaranteed outcomes, this role will not work.
Why SWARM Biotactics
We are well-funded, moving fast, and operating in a domain no one else occupies.
Your work will define the foundational communication layer of living machines — not a feature, not an optimization, but the core system everything else depends on.
Join the Swarm
This is not a role for safe careers or incremental progress.
It is a role for people who want to define how a new class of machines communicates.
If that's you, we want to meet you.
