Summary About the Position: Position is located at DeCA CDC Kaiserslautern, Supply Chain Directorate, Quality Control Section. Purpose is to perform quality control and some materials handler duties on rotating shift & Saturday work. Responsibilities Responsible for randomly selecting pallets that are ready for shipment and inspecting the items on pallet against manifest. Tear down pallet completely to verify all material is on the pallet according to the manifest. Check for signs of items received, transfer stock to specially prescribe locations, ensure material being stored is compatible with material already in location and that correct rotation of stock is achieved. Review the warehouse denial reports and perform physically checks at locations for stock on hand. Report discrepancies to supervisor for corrective action and evaluation. Perform inventory counts on a regular basis. Perform individual and/or consolidated packing of items on the basis of shipping documents and transfers items to shipping section, annotates shortages and denials. Inspect outbound pallets prior to load out to ensure correct product and quantity is being shipped, also that proper stacking, wrapping and marking requirements are met to prevent miss-shipments and or damage during transport. Required to correct deficiencies on the spot and report them to the supervisor. Operate a forklifts and other types of material handling equipment like stock selectors, and pallet jacks to load, unload, move, transfer and/or transport material. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Quality Control Handler without more than normal supervision. Perform common shipping and receiving duties including Stock Rotation Checks, operating forklifts and material handling equipment. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) Physical Effort: May often be required to stand on hard surfaces for extended periods, and to bend, stoop, and work in tiring and sometimes uncomfortable positions. May need to lift and carry items that weigh up to 40 pounds. The heavier items are moved with weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. Working Conditions: Work is done inside or outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty, or poorly lighted. Regularly exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapers, bruises, abrasions, falls, and injury from falling stock or mechanized work areas Education Additional Information Direct deposit of pay is required. U.S. citizens overseas under ordinarily resident status are not eligible for appointment under the Status of Forces Agreement. Locality pay does not apply in the overseas area. If an employee brings a child to an overseas location and that child is entitled to attend a DoD school on a space-required basis in accordance with DoDEA Regulation 1342.13, the DoDEA and the Military Department responsible for providing related services will ensure that the child, if eligible for special education, receives a free appropriate public education, including related services pursuant to DoDI 1342.12 and DoDM 1342.12. If an employee brings an infant or toddler (up to 3 years of age) to an overseas location, and that infant or toddler, but for the child's age, is entitled to attend the DoDEA on a space-required basis in accordance with DoDEA Regulation 1342.13, then the Military Department responsible for EIS will provide the infant or toddler with the required EIS in accordance with the eligibility criteria consistent with DoDI 1342.12 and DoDM 1342.12. Employees (and family members) who require medical or dental care in the overseas location will be responsible for obtaining and paying for such care. Access for civilian employees and their families to military medical and dental treatment facilities is on a space-available and reimbursable basis only. Pay retention may be offered to selected applicants for positions at overseas locations. Pay retention will not be offered as an incentive for employees moving between overseas positions. Selectees may receive certain foreign area benefits such as: Living Quarters Allowance (LQA) or government quarters, home leave, etc. Selectees will have their eligibility for foreign area benefits determined at the time of hire in accordance with Department of State Standardized Regulation (DSSR) and DoDI 1400.25 volume 1250. For positions in a foreign country, that country's laws or international agreements may have a direct impact on the ability of an employee's same sex domestic partner or spouse to accompany the employee and receive certain benefits.
