A Commercial Manager for offshore wind fulfils the critical role of developing, overseeing and coordinating the commercial activities from lead generation to cash collection within Envision Energy for Offshore Wind in the European region. They oversee the risk -reward analysis of the deals to ensure that Envision Energy’s reputation and financial position are maintained/ enhanced through the sale of projects in their region.
The role of a Commercial Manager for Offshore Wind, entails overseeing the end-to-end LTC (Lead to Cash) process, from the bid preparations and project costings to contract negotiations and execution changes. Together with the Sales / Account manager, they are responsible for formulating effective strategies for the winning deals, managing resources and ensuring compliance with Envision policies and guidelines. They also develop/ execute robust processes to ensure that projects pass auditing scrutiny while coordinating with various internal teams.
Additionally, the Commercial Manager also provides regular and timely updates to internal stakeholders, monitoring progress and deal outcomes in the offshore wind space. He/She provides guidance to the regional leadership on the status and order book ability of the deals that they are working on.
Objectives of this role
* Working with Sales/ Account Director and regional head to develop winning strategies and ensure margins remain positive and order volumes are sustainable and growing.
* Managing bidding budgets, resources and timelines.
* Maintaining comprehensive and accurate project information, including bid details, pricing approvals, risks, mitigations etc.
* Ensuring compliance with client requirements, regulations and industry standards.
* Monitoring and coaching new commercial managers that may join in the future .
Your tasks
* Managing bidding budgets, resources and timelines.
* Owns the commercial process KPI and ensures that all deals follow the commercial process including escalation and approvals.
* Coordinating with various teams, including sales, technical, legal and finance to ensure all aspects of a contract risk are managed effectively.
* Act as the approver for L3 level risks and ensure
* Ensure that all deals pass audit process
* Continuously work with the regional director to refine and improve Envisions commercial processes, templates and best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
* Stay updated on industry trends, key terms and conditions, market insights and emerging best practices in commercial operations.
Required skills and qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field.
* 6+ years of experience as commercial manager or contract manager or a similar role
* Experience in managing complex projects or large/ utility scale projects in the power sector.
* Working knowledge of procurement processes and regulations.
* Working knowledge of project financing in Renewables or power sector.
* Demonstrated success in winning bids through effective negotiations.
* Strong understanding of the bid lifecycle, proposal writing, development and contract negotiation.
* Being well acquainted with the European power market, contract laws and regulations.
* Proficiency in using contract management software and MS Office.
* Attention to detail and high accuracy in bid preparation and review.
* Familiarity with industry-specific contract requirements (if applicable).
* Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at various levels.
