Hauptaufgaben
Serves as mechanic in the USAG, DPW, Operations & Maintenance Division, Water & Waste Branch, Grafenwoehr. The Water & Waste Branch is responsible for the maintenance, repair and operation of the water supply systems at Grafenwoehr, the Ranges, Site 17, Hill 459 and for the maintenance and repair of the washracks at Grafenwoehr.
Performs repair and alteration work on the water distribution system. Participates in the excavation of water pipe ditches where leaks have been detected. Cuts out defective segments with hacksaw or acetylene cutting tools. Fits in and connects new pipes. Makes hydrostatic pressure test, using pressure gauge. Maintains, repairs and installs components of water supply systems, i.e., motors, pumps, manual and motorized valves, water meters, pressure gages, suction and pressure pipe systems, filters, controls, and washrack equipment, i.e., hydraulic nozzle system, high pressure water guns, expansion tanks high pressure pumps, sludge pumps, oil skimmer, algea dozing system. Replaces pump and motor bearing, coupling, packing; repairs valves and filters. Checks, adjusts, and repairs chlorination and fluoridation injecting systems including repair of injection pump, injection nozzles and injection mechanism. Adjusts chlorine and fluorine additions to meet required standards. Performs operational tests, reads meters, and takes and analyzes water samples to determine free chlorine and fluoridation in the water system. Performs various repair and maintenance tasks on such equipment as precision measurement instruments and equipment as recorders, counters, analyzers, dial indicators, voltmeters, frequency meters, insulation testers, and a variety of other devices of similar complexity. Instruments are usually of standard design, and may be either self-contained and functionally independent or serviced while separated from other equipment, such as test consoles or instrument panels. Periodically inspects components of water supply system, performs operational and functional tests, measures water quantities on wells, takes measurements on water table of the wells and takes water samples for further analysis by external laboratory. Maintains log to comply with the German Self Quality Control regulation on drinking water (Eigenueberwachungsverordnung EUV) about inspections, test results, operational tests, water consumption and documents major events, which negatively influence the water supply.
Drives a vehicle with a loading capacity of up to 3 1/2 tons, requiring a Class III drivers license and the corresponding military operators permit to and from prescribed destinations. Observes traffic regulations and is responsible for the safety of passengers, vehicle and load while en route. Maintains vehicle in serviceable and clean condition, performs drivers maintenance. Maintains operational records, reports accidents, incidents and special occurrences.
Performs other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL EFFORT. Work requires standing, stooping, bending, physical strength is required while using hand tools common to the trade.
WORKING CONDITIONS. Work is performed in- and outside involving exposure to all kinds of weather.
Qualifikationsanforderungen
A4-4801-05:
Abgeschlossene Berufsausbildung in der entsprechenden Gewerbegruppe mit einer Ausbildungsdauer von mindestens 30 Monaten.
Completed vocational training of at least 30 months in the appropriate trade.
ODER/OR
5 Jahre einschlägige Berufserfahrung.
5 years of specialized experience.

Abgeschlossene Berufsausbildung in der entsprechenden Gewerbegruppe mit einer Ausbildungsdauer von mindestens 30 Monaten, PLUS 2 Jahre Berufserfahrung in der Lohngruppe 5 oder in, vom Schwierigkeitsgrad vergleichbaren Tätigkeiten, welche selbständig ausgeübt wurden.
Completed vocational training in the appropriate trade PLUS 2 years experience at a level of difficulty comparable to the Wage Group 5 or equivalent. The applicant must be able to perform the duties independently.
ODER/OR
8 Jahre einschlägige Berufserfahrung von denen mindestens 3 Jahre in der Lohngruppe 5 oder vergleichbaren Tätigkeiten ausgeübt wurden.
8 years of specialized experience of which 3 years must have been performed at the wage group 5 or equivalent level.
