Job Title: Product Design Engineer Mercedes-Benz (w/m/d)
Location: Unterschleißheim (Munich Region), Deutschland
Position Description:
We are currently looking for a Product Design Engineer Mercedes-Benz (w/m/d) to join our Munich team.
In this role, you are expected to be responsible for:
* Design and develop automotive components (e.g., interior, exterior, chassis, powertrain, or electrical systems) using CAD software (Siemens NX).
* Translate customer and internal requirements into functional, manufacturable product designs.
* Create 3D models, 2D drawings, and detailed specifications for prototypes and production.
* Conduct and lead DFMEA sessions to identify potential failure modes and ensure preventive design actions are in place.
* Perform design feasibility studies, packaging analysis, and tolerance stack-ups.
* Ensure all designs comply with regulatory, safety, and performance standards.
* Collaborate with CAE teams to validate and optimize designs.
* Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Quality and Project Management teams to address technical inquiries, deliver expert guidance and support the resolution of product-related issues.
* Manage technical communication with customers, fostering strong relationships and ensuring ongoing support and collaboration.
* Manage data exchange processes with both customer systems and internal departments, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and seamless collaboration.
* Interface with manufacturing and suppliers to ensure Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
* Support validation testing and root cause analysis during development and launch phases.
* Maintain documentation and manage engineering changes through PLM systems.
Following qualifications and abilities are expected for this role:
* Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
* 2–5+ years of experience in automotive product design.
* Proficient in CAD tools (e.g. Siemens NX).
* Strong experience in DFMEA development and facilitation.
* Solid understanding of GD&T, DVP&R, and vehicle integration.
* Familiarity with manufacturing processes (e.g., stamping, injection molding, die casting, extrusion).
* Effective communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
* Proficient in MS-Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
* Experience with PLM systems (e.g., Teamcenter).
* Fluent in spoken and written German and English.
