At OpenProject, we believe in the power of open source to build products transparently, collaboratively, and with real impact. We’re looking for a working student to complement our Product Management team and contribute to the continuous improvement of OpenProject.
You’ll work closely with our Product Managers and cross-functional teams from the first idea to delivery. If you’re curious, organized, and enjoy connecting user needs with thoughtful product solutions, we’d love to meet you.
Your mission
* Support the Product Management team in day-to-day activities such as product discovery and delivery.
* Conduct user research, analyze findings, and communicate insights through clear visuals and summaries.
* Draft epics, user stories, and simple prototypes that translate ideas into tangible improvements.
* Prepare demo data, presentations, blog posts, and use case documentation that help communicate product updates.
* Collaborate closely with developers, designers, and other teams, supporting ongoing project management activities.
What you’ll bring
* You are currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in technical economics, business informatics, design, or a related field.
* You already have some hands-on experience in user-focused product work and are familiar with user research, prototyping, and remote collaboration.
* You communicate clearly, document thoughtfully, and enjoy working in a remote-first, cross-functional environment.
* You are curious, value openness and collaboration, and enjoy contributing to software that’s developed transparently and used by a large community.
* Ideally, you’re based in Berlin and you’re fluent in German and English at a business level.
What awaits you
* The best of both worlds : the creative challenges and learning opportunities of a start-up combined with the financial stability of a “grown-up” company in a team of dedicated professionals.
* The flexibility to decide from where you would like to work : remotely in a location within 2 hours (time-zone) from Berlin, Germany.
* Contributing to an open source project with high visibility and transparency within the developer world (our software code is freely available on Github).
* Once a year, we dedicate our " Passion Time " off-site to work on any improvements of our choice with a business impact (e.g. product improvements, marketing concepts,...) in multi-disciplinary teams.
* Employee benefits such as job bikes and paid child care.
* You will be in touch with exciting clients and users from all around the globe, including NGOs and other open source projects which we love to support in fulfilling their mission (such as Greenpeace, Engineers without Frontiers), corporates like Siemens, Deutsche Bahn or Audi and public institutions like German Federal Ministries.
