On behalf of our client, ESOC, we are looking for a Junior Application Support Engineer to join our team in the FOS Virtualisation service at our Serco Spacecraft Operations Centre in Darmstadt, Germany.
Main Responsibilities
1. Set up, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL clusters to ensure optimal performance and reliability
2. Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot containerized applications within Kubernetes environments
3. Monitor system performance continuously and produce reports to support operational improvements
4. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on technical operations.
5. Optionally support database infrastructure to ensure data accessibility and integrity
6. Contribute to software development activities, particularly in Java and scripting environments
7. Provide support for Linux-based systems, including maintenance and troubleshooting
Successful Candidate
Do you think you are the person we are looking for? See below what experience or knowledge you should bring :
8. Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience working with PostgreSQL and Kubernetes in operational environments
9. Strong background in infrastructure or platform engineering, with a focus on system reliability and observability
10. Basic understanding of cloud infrastructure, security, and networking
11. Knowledge of storage in Cloud (vblock, S3, Object Storage)
12. Familiarity with Linux system administration and troubleshooting
13. Experience in monitoring and performance tuning of distributed systems
14. Working knowledge of scripting or development in scripting languages such as Java, Python, or similar languages
15. Knowledge of Ansible and Terraform
16. Ability to support database environments and ensure data consistency (optional but beneficial)
17. Academic qualifications in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field are advantageous but not mandatory
18. Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to dive into troubleshooting
19. Team player mindset, with an efficient thinking focus in a procedure-driven working environment
20. Ability to handle stressful situations and work autonomously
21. Fluency in English (Written and spoken)
