The Role
You will work closely with the Head of European Operations to open and expand YouLend’s Germany office. You will take full ownership of building and managing the German-speaking Sales team (40+ people expected within 12 months). This team services new and existing merchant cash advances (MCAs).
Your primary objective is to ensure excellent customer service (as measured by Trustpilot and NPS), while achieving high conversion rates and funded amounts. You will hire, train, and develop current and prospective team members to meet targets and collaborate with Partnerships, Product, and Commercial to go-to-market with new partners and improve the merchant experience.
This role focuses on improving outcomes, processes, and efficiencies across the German market. You should be able to work independently, build a high-performing team, be proactive, and meet ambitious targets. You should have a strong understanding of the end-to-end application cycle and implement strategies to streamline operations, improve conversion, and enhance the customer experience. The role requires strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, plus excellent people skills to communicate changes.
Responsibilities
* Be at the forefront of building out the German Sales team, hiring and developing the team from the ground up.
* Make the German Sales team as efficient as possible while delivering high conversion rates, partner service, and customer outcomes.
* Hire, train, and develop team members to meet targets, drive KPI reporting, identify and close process gaps, and continuously mentor staff.
* Enable a high-performing team by making data-driven decisions and translating insights into actionable plans that deliver measurable improvements.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Partnerships, Commercial, Product) to adapt processes for existing partners and go-to-market with new partners.
* Act as a change leader, implementing improvements quickly and with strong adoption across teams with minimal disruption.
Required / Ideal Candidate
* Proven people management experience (ideally 10+ direct reports; experience managing managers is a plus).
* 2+ years’ experience in a high-growth fintech, financial services, or top strategy consulting firm. Exposure to SME lending in continental Europe is a plus (cash advances preferred).
* Project management experience in fast-paced environments (startups or scale-ups).
* Hands-on, proactive, with a sense of urgency; able to push projects forward and remove blockers.
* Track record of delivering against ambitious targets.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Experience with change management.
* Fluent in German and English.
* Nice-to-have: strong problem-solving, analytical skills, and experience with mass data manipulation (SQL, Python, R, etc.).
