Hauptaufgaben
Serves as Interpreter/Translator on a rotating shift in the operations section in the Kaiserslautern or Baumholder Provost Marshal Office.
Interpretations/Translations. Serves as consecutive interpreter between US Military Police personnel and German speaking individuals during interrogations, discussions, meetings and conferences. Interpretations must be fluent and must often, especially during interrogations, portray the exact meaning of statements made. May be required to interpret at court and other hearings. Is responsible for providing German authorities with detailed translations of military police reports (i.e. summaries, subject/victim statements, medical certificates, examination reports, bills, estimates of damage). Makes translations from German into English of such materials as laws, court decisions, requests for assistance, and other special documents. Translations are conducted independently and must be factually and syntactically correct and idiomatically fluent and must be rendered in such clarity as to prevent misunderstanding and legal implications. Is required to type translated material in final format. Acts as official translators for all US Forces Police and German Police interactions, both verbal and written.
Military Police Reports. Ensures police reports received from desk sergeants and other MP personnel are correct and complete in accordance with governing regulations. Assures all necessary reports/information are properly entered by the desk sergeants into the official blotters. Upon completion of all corrections, police reports are finalized and distributed together with Commanders? Reports of Disciplinary or Administrative Actions and Crime Record Cards. Assures the Supervisory Police Liaison Specialist, Provost Marshal, and the Chief of Police are aware of discrepancies and recurring problems with reports at the desk sergeant/patrolmen level. Advises desk sergeants and patrol personnel on proper report procedures. Interacts with US Air Force counterparts at Vogelweh and Ramstein AB in an effort to obtain reports generated by the Air Force involving Army personnel. Provides unit commanders and other authorized personnel extracts of the daily blotter and other documents upon request.
Liaison: Serves as liaison between the US Forces Police and German Agencies. Obtains critical information for ongoing investigations from German authorities and vice versa. Establishes and maintains a good working relationship with German authorities such as police, court, prosecutors, lawyers, insurance agencies and other US organizations such as unit commanders/first sergeants, legal offices, family advocacy, claims, and military police stations.
Receives telephone calls from commanders and other customers inquiring about policies, procedures and the status of police reports. Maintains official archive of police records IAW regulations of previous five years.
Performs other duties as assigned.

C-05:
E&T Level I: 2 years of creditable experience as defined in A below PLUS 1 year of experience as defined in B below.
Current employees who do not meet E&T Level I and who are not in the same or similar occupation must have 2 additional years of creditable experience as described in A below.
E&T Level II: 1 year of creditable experience as defined in A below PLUS 1 year of experience as defined in B below.
E&T Level III and above: No additional experience required.
Current employees who have served one year in the same or similar occupation are qualified for the next higher grade.
C-5a:
E&T Level I: 2 years of creditable experience as defined in A below PLUS 2 years of experience as defined in B below.
Current employees who do not meet E&T Level I and who are not in the same or similar occupation must have 2 additional years of creditable experience as described in A below.
E&T Level II: 1 years of creditable experience as defined in A below PLUS 2 years of experience as defined in B below.
E&T Level III: 1 year of experience as defined in B below.
E&T Level IV: No additional experience required.
Current employees who have served one year in the same or similar occupation are qualified for the next higher grade.
Experience A: Included clerical work in an office or store, working with computers, bookkeeping, making and recording inventories, telephone marketing, arranging for events or as a cashier, etc.
Experience B: Experience in the same or similar line of work as the job for which considered. The experience must demonstrate that the applicant possesses the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required in the position. The predominant experience must have been gained at a comparable level of difficulty to the position to be filled. The amount of the higher level experience must be in a reasonable relation to the required total number of years.
• Office automation skills are required.
• German driver's license class B required.
LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY LEVEL:
English Language Proficiency level AND German Language Proficiency level C2 required.

These are two permanent fulltime positions (38.5 hrs./week).
Position may be filled at the C-05 or at the full performance level, C-5a. The incumbent may be non-competitively promoted to the next higher or full performance level in accordance with regulatory requirements, upon completion of required training, and recommendation of supervisor.
• Working on weekends and holidays as well as rotating shift work required.
• Evenings Shift, Night Shift and Day Shift required.
