About the role
At Wolters Kluwer, we build solutions that empower professionals to make critical decisions with confidence. Quality is at the heart of everything we do — and we are now looking for a Principal Software Quality Engineer (m/f/d) to help elevate our Quality Engineering practices across the Wolters Kluwer TAA Europe North region.
This is a highly visible technical leadership role for a change leader with a strong technical foundation and a passion for modern Quality Engineering, automation, and innovation — including AI‑first testing approaches. You will work closely with Engineering teams and senior leadership to define strategy, lead transformation, and directly influence how our products are built, tested, and released.
Key Responsibilities
As Principal Software Quality Engineer (m/f/d), you will:
1. Set the quality vision for the region, defining best practices, standards, and strategies that scale across teams
2. Lead by example, initially working hands‑on to build modern test automation solutions and enabling teams to adopt and sustainably own them
3. Accelerate delivery by improving product quality while responsibly reducing release timelines
4. Champion innovation, shaping the evolving role of Quality Engineering in a GenAI‑driven technology landscape
5. Mentor and grow people, helping build a high‑performing, forward‑looking Quality Engineering community
Over time, this role is expected to evolve into formal ownership of Quality Engineering resources across the region.
Lead & Inspire
6. Kick‑start test automation initiatives for development teams, demonstrating best practices and enabling sustainable adoption
7. Act as a trusted advisor to Engineering leadership and the Regional CTO on QE strategy, innovation, and transformation
8. Coach, mentor, and develop QE professionals, helping them grow into technical leaders
9. Build a strong, resilient QE organization with a culture of excellence, curiosity, and continuous learning
Elevate Quality Engineering
10. Define and evolve Quality Engineering standards, processes, and frameworks to ensure consistency and scalability
11. Establish meaningful quality metrics and KPIs to measure impact and continuously improve outcomes
12. Provide expert guidance on complex test strategies, architectures, and end‑to‑end testing approaches
Innovate & Transform
13. Challenge traditional quality paradigms and explore how GenAI and emerging technologies reshape testing and Quality Engineering
14. Identify opportunities to modernize tools, processes, and automation approaches across teams
15. Drive continuous improvement to increase efficiency, effectiveness, and confidence in product quality
Collaborate & Communicate
16. Partner cross‑functionally with Developers, QA Engineers, Product teams, and other stakeholders
17. Promote knowledge sharing and best‑practice exchange across teams and locations
18. Clearly communicate progress, results, risks, and recommendations — from team level to executive leadership
19. Co‑lead quality governance activities, including risk identification, mitigation, and reporting
Experience & Expertise
20. 5–10 years of experience in Quality Assurance and Software Testing, with a strong focus on test architecture and strategy
21. Proven success leading large‑scale QE initiatives and driving measurable quality improvements
22. Deep understanding of SDLC methodologies, including Agile, Scrum, and DevOps
23. Strong experience with test automation frameworks, scripting, and programming
24. Hands‑on experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern delivery environments
25. Ability to train, coach, and mentor teams within Agile delivery models
Skills & Mindset
26. Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a strong attention to detail
27. Comfortable operating at both hands‑on technical and strategic leadership levels
28. Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence and inspire across teams and senior stakeholders
29. Curiosity, adaptability, and a passion for innovation and continuous improvement
Education & Tools
30. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
31. Experience with Tricentis Tosca, qTest, and Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket)
32. Quality Engineering or related certifications are a plus
33. Solid understanding of software engineering practices beyond testing is highly valued
