Cobol Software Developer Position
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Cobol software developer to join our IT team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in developing software applications using Cobol programming language.
This role involves:
* Analyzing and extending existing software systems and applications in a complex IT system environment based on an IBM mainframe architecture with the systems DB2, IMS / CICS etc.
* Software development with COBOL, SQL, JCL for mainframe software.
* Completed studies in practical / applied computer science or training as an IT specialist.
* Experience in the mainframe environment with COBOL and in the conception of software as well as tuning options with practice in database modeling.
* Practical experience with complex SQL queries as well as database performance analyses and their optimization.
* Confident handling of database management systems, preferably DB2 and the associated database languages and tools.
* Knowledge of the structures in TWS / OPC for setting up automated batch processes.
* Practical experience in IT project management, e.g. process risk analysis, requirements management, business client communication.
Requirements
* A strong educational background in computer science or related field.
* Excellent knowledge of Cobol programming language.
* Proven experience in developing software applications using Cobol.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work in a team environment.
* Good communication skills.
