The Desktop Support team in Heidelberg provides high-quality first-level and desktop support to a diverse, international user community, while also managing key Windows backend services. In addition, the team plays an important role in EMBLs scientific training mission by providing and maintaining IT training environments for the EMBL Advanced Training Centre.<br></span><span><br></span><span>We are looking for an experienced, service-oriented IT Support Engineer to join ourDesktop Support team at EMBL Headquarters in Heidelberg, Germany.<br></span></p></div><div><h2>Your role</h2><ul><li>Provide professional desktop support for macOS, Windows, and Linux systems, as well as mobile devices</li><li>Manage system and software deployments using enterprise tools (e.g. Microsoft SCCM, JAMF Pro)</li><li>Configure and maintain user environments, including accounts, network access, printing, and email services</li><li>Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues across supported platforms</li><li>Deliver a responsive, user-focused helpdesk service with a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction</li><li>Track, document, and manage support requests in line with IT service management best practices</li><li>Contribute to the continuous improvement of IT services, infrastructure and user experience</li></ul></div><div><h2>You have</h2><ul><li>At least 2 years of professional experience in an IT support environment</li><li>A degree in computer science or equivalent practical experience</li><li>Hands-on experience managing and supporting Windows, Linux and macOS systems, including desktop and mobile platforms</li><li>Familiarity with Microsoft Active Directory, Exchange and Microsoft 365 services</li><li>Experience integrating desktop and mobile devices into enterprise IT environments, including network, file, email and collaboration services</li><li>Knowledge of virtualisation and VDI technologies (e.g. VMware Horizon)</li><li>Strong analytical, troubleshooting and organisational skills</li><li>Excellent communication skills and fluency in English</li></ul></div><div><h2>You may also have</h2><ul><li>Experience with enterprise software deployment and configuration management tools (e.g. Microsoft SCCM, JAMF Pro)</li><li>German language skills</li></ul></div><div><h2>Why join us</h2><p><span>EMBL is curiosity-driven, community-oriented and international.
