The Storytelling Company creates original experiences and cultural products at the intersection of culture, technology, and storytelling. Alongside commissioned work, our Originals department develops self-initiated concepts - live entertainment formats and location-based project products designed to scale, travel, and exist across multiple markets, locations, and audiences.
The Originals team operates at the very beginning of this journey: shaping ideas, testing their potential, and preparing variable, adaptable, and scalable products to move forward into investment, partnership, and realisation.
The Role
We are looking for a New Business Director – Originals to take ownership of and understand in depth the commercial pathways for our TSC original experiences and location-based project concepts designed by flora&fauna visions.
This role is fully dedicated to Originals. Your focus is on identifying where an idea can live internationally, who it should be built with, and how it can become commercially viable - before it enters full production.
You will work integrally within the Originals team to help transform early-stage concepts into credible, investable opportunities, identifying partners, operators, and markets across international territories that can support their realisation and long-term success.
This is a hands-on, opportunity-led role for someone who understands the business of original experiences and location-based entertainment and knows how to build belief, structure, and momentum around original Intellectual Property in international markets.
What You'll Do
Commercial Strategy for Originals
* Identify and originate commercial opportunities for Original concepts across markets and territories
* Develop early-stage strategic business models for Originals, aligned with their format, audience, scalability, and international potential
* Build and manage a focused, realistic pipeline of opportunities with long-term, cross-market potential
* Lead global licensing and partnership strategy, identifying and qualifying venues, promoters, distributors, and potential licensees by region.
* Design and maintain financial models supporting deal structures, revenue forecasting, royalty logic, and partner economics
Opportunity Shaping & Closing
* Lead conversations with venues, operators, partners, investors, and commissioning bodies
* Shape and negotiate deal structures such as touring, licensing, royalty-based agreements, co-production, and revenue-share models, ensuring sustainable partner economics
* Lead negotiations and support agreements through to commitment and closing
Market & Partner Insight
* Maintain a strong understanding of international location-based entertainment and live experience markets
* Identify where Original concepts have the strongest strategic and commercial fit globally
* Track trends, comparable formats, and emerging opportunities relevant to scalable Intellectual Property
Collaboration & Enablement
* Work closely with the Originals Product Manager, Creative Researcher, and Art Director
* Translate creative concepts and product definitions into clear commercial propositions
* Align expectations between creative ambition, product logic, international market conditions, and commercial reality early
* Support fundraising and investment conversations by providing commercial rationale, financial models, and partner insight
Representation
* Act as a key external representative for TSC Originals at international markets, festivals, conferences, and industry events
* Build credibility and momentum around Originals through informed, confident communication
How You Work
* You operate independently and proactively, owning Originals-related new business concepts and models end-to-end
* You are hands-on and comfortable doing the work yourself, rather than relying on large support structures
* You collaborate closely with leadership and the Originals team, with lightweight alignment and high trust
* You prioritise quality over quantity, focusing on opportunities with real long-term and international potential
Your profile
We're looking for someone with deep, relevant experience in the commercial side of original experiences and location-based entertainment, with a strong understanding of international markets.
You bring:
* 5+ years experience in new business, commercial strategy, or partnerships within original experiences, entertainment, or location-based contexts
* A strong understanding of how original Intellectual Property is positioned, monetised, adapted, and scaled internationally
* Experience structuring license agreements, royalty models, and international partnership economics
* Comfort building and managing financial models to support commercial decision-making
* Experience working with venues, operators, cultural institutions, or entertainment partners across markets
* Proven ability to originate, shape, and close deals
* Strong commercial, negotiation, and communication skills
* Confidence working internationally and across diverse territories
* Fluency in English
* A strong professional network relevant to scalable entertainment products
Formal education matters less than experience, judgement, and results.
